san diego from DLH

We are staying at the DLH for 6 days. One of those days we wanted to go to San Diego. What is the best way to get from the Disneyland Hotel to San Diego to go to the Zoo? We are flying, so we will not have our own transportation. Where is the best place to buy tickets to the zoo, are there any transportation/ticket packages.

if you rent a car, hop on the 5 (I-5) which you can see from inside Disneyland, head south and about 90 miles later you're at San Diego Zoo. Sea world is there too. Have fun

Rent car, take Interstate 5 South, then 163 south, exit at Park Blvd. It's approximately 100 miles and takes about 1.5 hours, more if you hit traffic. I would either go nite before to avoid traffic, or leave very early from DL or late morning, say 8 a.m. to try to avoid congestion.

If you don't rent car, you can take train to San Diego from Orange County. You would need transportation to OC station and then from SD Station (Santa Fe Depot) to Balboa Park where SD Zoo is located.
