San Antonio budget hotel

We will be bringing our two boys 10&14 to SA for Xmas vacation.
I need a recommendation for the first night near the airport that is budget friendly. We will be going to the YO Ranch for the next 3 days then back to SA for 3. The last 3 nights we will be staying at the Marriot on the Riverwalk. We will be there over New Years Eve. Can anyone give me ideas to do and family places to eat. Any discount deals that you know of would also be appreciated. Thanks so much.

I can't really help with a budget hotel near the airport, but you will have a great time at the others places you have decided to stay at. We have stayed at the Marriott on the riverwalk several times and it is great. As far as fun things to do of course there is the riverwalk and who could forget the Alamo. There is also a market that has both inside and outside shops and a resturant that not only has excellent Mexican food but a HUGE bakery with all kinds of Mexican pastry. I'm not sure what the name of the market is but the resturant is Mi Tiera. Fiesta Texas (6 flags), Sea World, missions, and Ripleys are always a hit. Have a wonderful time!

I really loved the Hyatt Place. It is an exit or 2 S of the airport. I think the area N of airport is really confusing. The hyatt place had a special rate-maybe 72 or 79. HUGE room. Breakfast. Super friend staff.

I've always been down on the river before but this worked great. I was very pleased.
