I would love to eat here for lunch one day. However the closest thing to Mexican my husband will eat are steak fajitas, plain!!! Just the beef and maybe some onions.

I guess this is silly question, but do they have anything plain enough, not really mexican

If you are looking for really good mexican food..keep looking. San Angel is not very good. The CS outside is much better.

Not only is it not very good, this is the only place where we have had down right rude service.

They do offer a beef tampiquena ( just a steak) served with just rice and beans. We did enjoy our meal here although the service was slow and they actually served our appetizers after our entree :confused3 She said the kitchen was busy?! I would return though. The atmosphere is great and we liked the food.

The sevice is never great there but remember these people who work there are authentic. Every culture is different. We eat there every trip and always have good food. I can see where some would not like it there but our family enjoys it. I guess it's one of those things you have to try it to like it, or not.

We've never had a problem - with food or service. Maybe the atmosphere just makes up for it... but, have you checked the menus? Look at the kiddie menu and see if there's anything there - he could probably get an adult portion.

We love San Angel. We have had great food and service our last two visits. The food is not overly spicy, as another poster stated, they have a steak entree that is served with rice and beans. Mexican food really varies here in the United States, so for some people the food at San Angel does not remotely resemble what they eat at their local Mexican place! I think the atmosphere is great and the bottom line is that you won't know until you give it a try!

Ive never eaten at the San Angel, but I can tell you that the Cantina de San Angel (the outside counterservice just outside the San Angel) STINKS!!! I've been to Mexico (the country) many times, and we used to speak fluent Spanish. I like AUTHENTIC Mexican food. The Cantina de San Angel has bland Americanized food and the service was VERY RUDE. On the free DDP last year it was the ONLY place that wasnt nearly perfect (aside from Pizza Planet... Yuck Fox Deluxe 89 cent pizzas were better). The fruit juice wasnt on the DDP either which just wasnt right. I LOVE Mexican food, and I was VERY disappointed. As far as the San Angel, as a frequenter to WDW, all I hear is negativity about it. The ambiance is great though. I want to eat there sometime just for the ambiance. I wont get my hopes up on the food.

We have NEVER had a bad experience at the San Angel and we have been eating here for years. The food is good, maybe not the best Mexican food we have ever eaten, but tasty. The atmosphere is great, and the service has always been fine. Also, the margaritas are yummy! DS (11) has asked to go again this year.

Amen! 'not very good' and 'rude service' are definitely understatements. I've eaten there twice and got both each time.

Like you, I've not eaten at San Angel either, but I can second your opinion on the Cantina outside. They had the worst nachos I've tasted in my life!

Loved it for the beauty of the place. The food was okay but I'm from CA so I'm used to something different. My DBF is from the UK and likes the food although we both prefer Chevy's Fresh Mex at the Crossroads. We always do Chevys but this year I'm not sure if we will get to do San Angel. However, we are doing Ohana's twice, yay :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes !

I strongly disagree with this. I've dined at this restaurant lots of times and the food has always been excellent (so have the margaritas). The salsa is a bit spicy,so if you like it very mild, you may stay away.

Wow. Thankfully, I have never encounted rude service at SAI. The service and host/hostess' have been very accomodating. (Even when we didn't have an ADR and the place was packed)!

Weate there on our honeymoon & it was one of my favorite meals. Our waiter was great, the food was awesome (salsa was perfect!) and the atmosphere is wonderful!

We're going back to WDW in April '07 and DH & I are planning a night for ourselves including dinner at SAI!
