I have made reservations for San Angel for one night and now I'm regretting agreeing to this one. Uggg.
We are already eating at Le Cellier Christmas day and don't want to eat at Coral Reef, Biergarten, or Norway.
It's hard to find somewhere the kids (10,14,8,7)) will eat but also something we adults (6 of us) will also like .... do you think San Angel is a mistake?
I just don't know where else to go.....We could walk over to the boardwalk..... what would you suggest?
We have never gone out that way to boardwalk.....so would you go the exit by france pavillion and hit boardwalk and then come back in again or ??
hmmm..... can't decide.

This is the 28th December by the way!

I dont know about the boardwalk, but we ate and San Angel Inn and we wont be going back. We didnt care for any of it, even the dessert wasnt good. I would look for something else, but then again you never know you may enjoy it, but I decided to try it out for myself, depsite all the bad reviews and my review is we wont go back again. Good luck in ur decision.

What about Tutto Italia, Have you ever eaten there? I've read some great reviews and I'm really excited to be eating here on our trip in Nov! That's my suggestion!:goodvibes

For what it's worth, we dined there in 2006. Without exception myself, DW and DS (then 12) thought everything was completely unpalatable. Actually we did have one item that was good and we didn't even order it. It was an appetizer that our waiter served us mistakenly that we never ordered. If I remember correctly it was a chicken dish. I wish I could remember what it was we ordered but I think I've blocked out the unpleasantness, lol!! I was disappointed because the Mexico pavilion is one of my favorites and dinning in front of the river seemed so cool. On the otherhand, I would suggest dinning in England. We've eaten there twice, both times everything was great, and it's close by the International gateway entrance so if you were going to the Boardwalk anyway its close by. I think the "English" food was a little more familiar to our American palate. The cheese platter appitizer is one of my favorites.

We just ate at San Angel a few weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised - the atmosphere was great and the food wasn't as bad as what I was afraid of from some of the reviews.

Tutto was excellent but pricey if not on the DDP. Chef's was also excellent. Rose & Crown and Marrakesh are both good as well.

If you want a break from the park, have you thought about the Cape May Cafe at the Yacht & Beach Club? It's a buffet so there would be something to please everyone. You would exit Epcot at the International Gateway between England and France. It's about a ten minute walk to the resort and then you could re-enter Epcot once you were finished. :)

Hi! We just ate at the San Angel Inn a couple weeks ago...we too were pleasantly surprised! The food was pretty good. The restaurant itself is pretty cool...something your kids would enjoy, plus there is the boat ride that they could go on. But, we did just stay at the Boardwalk and it is a really neat place to check out, esp. if you have never been before! There are a couple restaurants over there. We ate at Spoodles and it was good. And the Cape May Cafe has a nice buffet over at the Beach Club.

We are giving it a try for lunch in a week....I like the new lunch menu and the food looks pretty good. I have always wanted to eat there because of the ambiance so we will give it a try.

We thought it was fantastic when we had dinner there back in August.

I think what happens is folks expect a certain 'type' of Mexican food that may approximate ChiChi's or On The Border...Americanized-Mexican. These dishes are more traditional.

While the dinner menu was great, I will agree that the desserts left a bit to be desired, so we didn't order them (we were full anyway). We just had something later on elsewhere.

I had San Angel booked for that same day! After being nervous about it being a mistake too, (the menu didnt look that appealing to me and the tables are soo close together), we changed to Tutto which i REALLY wanted to go to anyway. However since then i have seen pics of food at San Angel which look great and was not on the menu. San Angel fit our schedule the best for seeing the tree lighting ceremony then having dinner then going to wait for the candelight processional (we didnt buy a package). With Tutto, we'll be finishing towards the beginning of the last show so we'll just watch from the street for a few minutes i guess.

good luck deciding and have fun!

Back in Nov of last year, DH and I had ressie's at Coral Reef for lunch that I was SO looking forward to. When the ressie time came around we found ourselves outside of San Angel. DH was hungry right then and didn't want to do anymore walking, so I finally gave in and said fine just knowing I wouldn't find anything good because of the reviews here.

OMG, I was so surprised. This was one of the best meals of the trip. I have it on my list as a do over on the next trip. The interior was nice and cool and beautiful. The food was excellent and the waitstaff was top notch. No it's not Tex Mex, which is good for us as we don't like the typical burrito's and chimichanga's. I would def keep the ressie.

OP I'm nervous too. We have a lunch ADR for next Saturday at the San Angel Inn. I know its too late to change, so I'm just hoping for the best.

I'll let you know how it is.

This is good to know. I never cared for those places like ChiChi's. Those are the places I am always disappointed with. I think it's beautiful at San Angel. Though I have never ate there before, I am quite certain we will enjoy it, despite the bad reviews.

Add me to the list of those disappointed. It is very dark, and the food was just not good at all. Now, as someone else mentioned, try Tutto, they were fabulous. If they end up staying (instead of being temp.) and accept the dining plan, we'll make this a must do every year.

I've eaten here before and loved it! I was so stuffed, I couldn't even think of dessert. My dinner was most delicious, I got the huge sampler platter for dinner and loved everything on it. Thumbs up for sure!

Have you thought about Teppan Edo? I just switched one of my ADR's to this restaurant after reading the reviews. I will be traveling with "selective" (read picky - or they choose the most expensive items :rotfl2: ) kids; a teen and a tween, and one of their favorite restaurants is Bennihana's. I checked out the Menu on Allears and it looks great. San Miguel looks good if your family likes Mexican food. I am from NM and I cook Mexican better than most, so we typically don't eat Mexican out very often, but their Menu looks good. Whatever you decide, have a great time.

Same here. We didn't like it at all and my DH is the least picky person I know and he didn't even like it.

We tried it and we are from the south. It was the worst meal of the whole week were there last Dec. It seems people from the North like that kind of food. It is not anything like Mexican food in Texas Oklahoma New Mexico for sure and even other states. It does look good in the photos but it truly is weird food. Cramped space, and not so good wait staff. Since you are from up North try it it may suit your family.

We just went to San Angel. We are vegetarian and were concerned there were no veg dishes on the menu, but we asked and the server brought us a special veg menu with a few things to choose from. I thought the food was fine... the rest of the adults in my group seemed very happy although it was not my favorite.

But what I wanted to say is, I would not recommend San Angel for younger or more sensitive children. My four year old was unhappy there - it was dark for her and also she was worried that the painted volcano on the wall was going to erupt! She did not eat very much if I remember correctly. This was not a good choice for a little kid.

Hi
Could you tell me what the vegetarian dishes are? I heard they had a new menu. Thanks!!
