San Angel Inn. Because it is one of the most romantic spots in all of WDW. The food is very good. It is NOT tex mex though, it is more traditional dishes, so look at the menu to see if it appeals to you.

I highly recommend taking the little boat ride in the pavillion first and then eat. Feels just like you are dining outside at night in Mexico.
The atmosphere of this restaurant is so different than most in the World, it is to be experienced.

Our group (my husband and my mother) enjoyed San Angel much more than Rose & Crown this past January. Funny, we were actually anticipating the opposite after reading so many reviews.

Our dishes at San Angel seemed lighter and fresher. We ordered the crab tostada appetizer, as well as an order of guacamole. The chips and salsa are now made fresh -- no more bags of chips and jars of salsa. We all ordered the same entree: The fish entree that's regularly on the menu. It had olives, tomatoes, capers, white wine sauce. Like I said, it just tasted very, very fresh.

At Rose & Crown, we ordered salads that we very good. I think it was their house salad? It had nuts in it. But our entrees were just mediocre. DH had the fish & chips (which are exactly the same as the counter service fast food outside), mom had the Sunday roast type meal and I had the shephard's pie. Everything just tasted heavy, flavorless and reheated.

But the ambiance at both places is nice. Drink at both places are very nice. We're in the process of picking our Epcot dinners right now, the same group of us, and all of us agreed we'd like to return to San Angel.

If you plan a late dinner at R&C there is the possibility of getting an outside table and being able to see Illuminations. If you don't get a patio seat you can still use their private viewing area. That is one definate plus of dining at R&C if you book a late dinner. We have always enjoyed the R&C for the fun atmosphere, we think the staff including the bartenders are wonderful. I always get the fish & chips, can't help myself, I like them! DH has ordered several different things & always been happy. I don't care much for beer but something about being in that place always makes me want to enjoy an English Ale

I think the themeing atmosphere at San Angel is one of the most romantic at disney, especially if you happen to have a dinner when the marachi band is playing. Plus it is so wonderfully cool in there & maybe it seems more so because it's always "nighttime" in there. Plus how can anyone not enjoy a margarita and some good mexican food?

It's a tough choice. We opted for San Angel this trip instead of R&C since we were able to get a LeCellier ADR and we'll only be doing 2 meals there. But we'll have to stop in the R&C for a beverage - just gotta do it

We've never been to Rose & Crown but we LOVE San Angel Inn. Everything is just always perfect when we eat there. It makes it onto our ADR list every year.

A few weeks ago we tried both for the first time. We ate at San Angel for lunch and it was great, it is now tied for my favorite World Showcase restaurant (with Chefs de France). The food was good and the service was equally good. There were five of us and we enjoyed it, not to mention the atmosphere is awesome. I went in with very little expectation after all the negative reviews and I had no need to fear because everything was delicious! We ate at Rose & Crown for dinner the same day. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't rush to go back. Our waiter was very good and attentive but the food was just ok, none of us were wowed as we left my DH said, "well we can cross that one off the list, I never need to go back". I already have our next ADR for San Angel and can't wait to go back, I probably wouldn't go back to Rose & Crown unless it was the only thing available.

I would choose San Angel Inn. We really enjoy dining there, and we have gone many times. I do enjoy their food a lot! While we also like Rose & Crown, San Angel is definitely the better of the two for us.

I guess I'll have to chime in with the minority view!

We had a great meal at San Angel, but a long, long wait and pretty indifferent service.

England was a blast. We had reservations at 7:45 and we walked by twice earlier in the day to ask whether we might sit on the patio ("we'll do the best we can" sort of answer)....when we checked in, we got the most amazing table - front and center on the patio. I studied abroad in college and I can't say the fish & chips are quite as good as the real thing - but they were good enough to take me back to lots of good memories. We got lots of fun appetizers - my Dad and DH had the whiskey flight. Adorable, attentive server. Loved it.

The food, while certainly different from one another...Is more or less of the same quality.

For us, what tips the scales in the direction of R&C is the friendliness of the CM's (Some of the best in all "the world") and the "spirit" of the pub.

We arrive early, have a couple of drinks in the pub and almost always strike up a friendly conversation with other guests or the bartenders before heading in the back for our meal.

It's essential Epcot for us...

I find the R&C to be nothing special. It's not bad. Just nothing special. San Angel Inn has a great atmosphere and very good food. Plus, now you can enjoy some tequila at the cave before/after your meal.

These are 2 of our favorite places to eat. Timing is the king at Rose & Crown, if you do it right you get perfect seats for Illuminations.
San Angel is great for Ambiance, and they have the 3 caballeros.

San Angel is really what you expect while dining at Disney, an incredibly immersive experience. For the longest time though the food has been pretty bad there, but they seem to have improved their menu and offerings so for the experience alone I would give SA the edge.

We really think of R&C as a lunch place. We always eat there for lunch on our first Epcot day in the parks. The beer is pretty good. The fish and chips are good, and yes, you can get both right outside at the CS area but the R&C atmosphere is amazing. The CM's that we have had there are very friendly and love to talk about their country. We love to sit on the water and enjoy the view while taking a mid-day break.
We have never eaten at San Angel but it is on our ADR list for our next trip. We just want to try it once, despite the VERY mixed reviews.
