San Angel & Marrakesh, which for lunch, which for dinner?

I'm going to make reservations at both San Angel Inn and Marrakesh. However, one needs to be lunch on our 'Epcot' day and one a later (7:30) dinner on my DHS day (we will have hoppers and are staying at Beach Club, so easy to hop to Epcot for dinner!).

So which would you recomment for lunch and which for dinner? Is the 'show' at Marrakesh better at night? It will be me and my two kids (7 and 9). So the belly dancing at Marrakesh is kind of important, as I think the kids would love it. However a margarita would be a nice way to start the evening at San Angel Inn as well!

TIA!
Kim

I've never eaten at Marrakesh. We did have an excellent lunch at San Angel in October - never been there for dinner so I can't compare for you. Hopefully someone who can be more help for you will come along!:goodvibes

I personally didn't like the food at San Angel, and Dec will be my first time at Marrakesh. But I would think Marrakesh has a better "dinner show". I do know San Angel is cool and dark (with beautiful scenery), which might be a nice break from the park during the day.

Both at lunch for us...

But, if I had to make one of them dinner it would probably be Marrakesh.

But honestly, that's only becasue San Angel only has a handful of things that we like and we like to get an opening time for an ADR becasue it seems to get really busy in there later in the day.

The menu at San Angel is more diverse and hearty so it would be your best choice for dinner. Marrakesh's food is, by culture, not very heavy so it is probably best for lunch.

I would also do Marrakesh for lunch and San Angel Inn for Dinner. To be honest, I'd actually do the Tangerine for lunch and San Angel for dinner.

I agree w/ this. Marrakesh is not bad, but really the CS in Morrocco is more tasty than the TS. But if you're on DDP I can see why you'd want to do 2 TS in one day.

I like San Angel for lunch.

I've had one great experience at Marrakesh and one bad.
In January of 2009, I went with a large group of friends for dinner. The atmosphere was great, with a belly dancing show, and the food was excellent. I had the lamb shank with couscous and loved it.
I went back to Marrakesh for dinner in January 2010 with a friend who hadn't been to WDW since she was 6. First off, we got there as the show was ending. The restaurant was extremely crowded that night and they actually took a folding table out of a closet and set us up in the middle of an aisle. I'm not joking. I was taken aback.
The, I ordered the same thing I'd had the year before and she got the kabobs. We strongly suspect her dish gave her food poisoning, as she was very sick from around the time of Illuminations to around noon the next day; I wasn't sick at all and we were drinking after each other (best friends, you know how that is) and she was fine after about 12 hours.

So, I'd be wary about going back to Marrakesh. I was highly disappointed because I'd liked it a lot in 2009. Maybe try to find someone who's been there within the last month and ask them how it is lately.

My personal favorite nighttime Showcase restaurant is Les Chefs de France. *shrug*

I have been to Marrekesh many times for lunch and have enjoyed the band and belly dancer and found it not to be very crowded at all. I do think that the menue at night has a few more choices for those who want to try different things. The items we are interested in are served at lunch time cheaper, so we go then. It still really fills us up. I highly suggest the Appetizer sampler for two!!

I like the idea of San Angel for lunch (cool and dark and you could a margarhita for lunch) and Marrakesh for dinner (for the show and its proximity to your resort)

Had a great lunch at San Angel Inn this past September. I didn't think the food was any heavier than any other TS restaurant we'd eaten at for lunch. If you're on the DP, you're going to eat well no matter what, especially if you're not used to that much food.

We love Tangierine Cafe which is Morocco's counter service restaurant...esp. the Swarma Platter. The amount of food for the price also makes it a great value :thumbsup2
