My DH and I will be going to WDW this weekend---alone. We have priority seating at the San Angel Inn for lunch on Sunday. Can anyone tell me about this restaurant?

I know when we ride the boat in the Mexico pavilion the food smells wonderful.

Also is the lunch menu good?

Thanks,
Dana

You should check out the menu at www.wdwig.com
The atmosphere is beautiful as you saw in the boat ride. Personally, we didn't care for the food except for the appetizer which is a cheese dip with chorizo sauage that comes with flour tortillas. The thing is we are used to Tex-Mex - taco salads, enchilads, quesadillas, burritos and such. The menu offerings at San Angel aren't Tex-Mex. You'll see what I mean when you look at the menu. There are many who love the food so by all means give it a try. I just wanted to give you an honest opeinion.

The ambience of this resteraunt is great, I love it. I think the food is good, but I'm not an expert on Mexican food, will eat it once in a while, but not a must for me. Try it out! Enjoy!

I ate there last year for lunch and found the food to be good. They had offerings for children and I agree with the other posters the atmosphere and ambiance was equally good.

It was the worst service ever. Not just at WDW but anywhere. We will never go back.

Honestly the atmosphere was great but kind of too dark. We also had terrible service and the food really wasnt that great.

This is one of our "must do" restaurants at WDW. My DH and DS are fans of authentic Mexican food and I love anything Mexican.

The Chili Con Quesido (a previous poster described) is an amazing appetizer that they prepare in front of you. You can modify any of the dishes to your taste and they are more than willing to accommodate.

The margaritas are excellent. The wait staff has always been very accommodating and will to please.

The ambiance is great - an all time favorite place.

Enjoy it. :teeth:

We enjoyed our meal here. The atmosphere was nice and the food was pretty good. We didnt have a problem with service either. :)

We love the food and have never had bad service in the many times we have eaten there. You can ask for a table by the river when you check in at the podium...Depending on your party size you might be lucky and get one.

Just do not expect tex-mex type food of tacos, burritos, enchiladas and you will really enjoy it. The beef dishes were very good that we had last trip :sunny: ... :sunny:

I love the tortilla soup and the mole sauce there. Never had exceptional service, but never really had bad service either. Its kind of a tight fit, but we go every trip.

While we have enjoyed the San Angel Inn, and go at least once on every trip, some people, on the boards, seem to dislike this one. We have never had bad service. It has not always been the fastest service but still not so slow I would complain. We rather enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and just enjoy our time out of the hot afternoon sun. The food has always been great for us and never had any complaints except once the lemonade was not that great.

My husband and I enjoyed the service, food and especially the atmosphere. We would go back in a heartbeat. :)

The remarks here seem to fit with the concensus elsewhere: they have authentic mexican food, not tex-mex, some like this and some don't

I second that, and the food was simply horrible. We had to ahve the hostess track down the check, we never saw the server after he took our order, someone else delivered our cold and disgusting food. I should have complained to a manager. It was the first and only time I left no tip at a WDW restaurant.

I do'nt like Tex mex, but I love authentic Mexican. This was cardboard from the kitchen floor.

wow sounds like a bad experience...isn't cardboard high in fiber though?

We have tried this a couple of times over the years since Epcot opened. I can't say the food was memorable, but the atmosphere was terrific :earsboy:

While I normally LOVE mexican food (I hate tex-mex), I wasn't impressed. Seeing as how I consider myself and "expert" on Mexican rice, the rice was no better than a boxed Mexican rice you would buy in the grocery store. My husband loved it, especially the chicken enchilada, and he said he would go back. I have to admit the chicken enchilada was great, it just wasn't enough for me to go back.

As for the service, it was slow but it wasn't bad enough for me to complain.

We always enjoy San Angel! :Pinkbounc It is rather dim, but that just adds to the ambience! :Pinkbounc We enjoy the food and margaritas! We have always recieved good service also! Gotta love the boat ride! :cool1:

We've always had really good experiences at San Angel Inn. We enjoy the food and the atmosphere is nice. For us it seems to be a 'sure thing' whether it is lunch or dinner.

All kidding aside, I'd like to vote on the pro side of this.

I've always enjoyed the San Angel Inn. I love the atmosphere and I've always felt the food was good. I would not say the service has been "stellar", but then again, I was not expecting it to be.

I personally also think the choice of San Angel Inn is ALWAYS a good thing for lunch, as it also gets you out of the sun and into a nice cool place :goodvibes
