So tell me about this place! I don't read much about it but the inside of the restaurant looks sooooo cool! Tell me about your experiences there...and please include ANY pix if you have them!!! :cool1:

I haven't had a recent experience but, my first time there, 2001, I was blown away. There is no way a picture can give you the true feeling of the atmosphere of this place in my opinion. If nothing else it warrants time for a cool drink and a snack.

I have heard a lot of negative reviews about the food here, but my DH and I really enjoyed it.

Go to the review section on this board. There are many reviews on SAI.

I have eaten there within the last year and it has improved. It used to be one of the WORST restaurants in WDW, but I can proudly say, it has been elevated to mediocre and pretty good on a good day.;)

If you partake in the margiritas outside and before you order, your experience is more likely to be "pretty good".:cool2:

i just posted a review of San Angel Inn on my dining report. there's a link to it in my siggie. we really enjoyed it :thumbsup2

I would enjoy it too with "smuggled vodka"!:lmao: :lmao: I'm kidding girlie, love ya, your reports and your beautiful brothers!!!

Pictures are too kind to San Angel. You get the impression of a cozy, dark, quiet romantic spot. Instead, it's loud, often overrun with kids, with tables impossibly close together. Service is rushed.

we went there this august and really enjoyed both the food, atomosphere, and service.

our waiteress was really friendly and got us to order in spanish, i really enjoyed the food, though it not your normal burritos and fajatias(sp) what we think as mexican but actually tex mex.

i have some pics i'll have to find them and upload them later!

A lot of posts on here don't seem to like the San Angel Inn. However, I really like the place. They have one particular dish that I love. Pollo a las Rajas - Grilled chicken breast served over red peppers, onions, chile poblano, chorizo and melted cheese.

We had dinner there in 2006. The food was FANTASTIC, but the service was SO BAD that we have not been back. It was probably the worst service I've ever had anywhere. :sad2:

San Angel Inn gets so many mixed reviews - but I love the place. When I was a CM it was one of my favorites when we just wanted to go to a park for dinner. It was one of the first ADRs I made for our upcoming trip!

It is not just the food, the thing I love the most is the atmosphere. It could be noon at 98 degrees with 100% humidity outside and you would not even feel it - it feels like nighttime, with a nice breeze.

I think that the atmoshpere more than makes up for the mediocre food.

Chips and salsa were good but could have come from a bag and a jar - I expected them to be handmade...

We ordered off the vegetarian menu and it was limited, but the food was fine.

But, we are mexican food junkies and are tough to please... :confused3

San Angel Inn gets mainly bad reviews here on the DIS.
It was the surprise of our last trip. I nearly cancelled the ADR several times due to the bad reviews here. But DH and DS wanted to eat here.
Our food was very good, not outstanding but way more than passable. Our service was attentive, but not hovering - just right.
The atmosphere is great.
I did not think it was too dark, as many here do. I did not think it was more crowded than many TS in WS, as many here do. I did not think it was too noisy, as many here do.
We enjoyed it very much and we will return.

someone just posted on the last page of the thread called Disney Food Pictures. There were duck tacos, lamb w/ beets, the combo plate, a chicken dish, etc.

Couldn't agree more!!!

San Angel Inn (Table Service) ☺☺☺
Beautiful and romantic, from first glance the food has a lot to live up to. While the menu is imaginative, the food is only slightly better than average. The beef isn’t nearly tender and flavorful enough to be in a $24 - $27 entrée. Most of the chicken and seafood dishes are pretty good, but this restaurant's sauces are exceptional. If they improved the quality of the meat and line cooks would do as much work on presentation as the designer did on the atmosphere, they’d have a Signature restaurant.

we usually go in the late afternoon....have a couple of apps and relax.

We had dinner there 2 years ago on our 30th anniversary. The atmosphere is nice but the food was only average. We also felt very rushed through the meal. We weren't even half finished with the appetizers when our main course was brought out. We were on the dining plan and our server brought out the check without even asking us what we wanted for dessert. I had to ask for it. I loved the ambience but won't eat there again.

We always enjoy this restaurant. Its our first ADR of the trip. It may not be the best meal I've ever had, but we always have a nice meal here.

Thanks everyone... I think we'll skip it. Too many other yummy ones to choose from so i think I'll stick with Coral Reef and/or Teppan Edo!
