good? The menu sounds really good but I don't recall ever seeing a post or review on here about it? Anyone ever go? How was it? DW and I love Mexican food andf wondered if it was worth a try.

TIA

Dh and I split some appetizers and had margeritas there-thought it was pretty good. :)

We have eaten at the San Angel Inn a couple of times and really enjoyed the meal and the experience. Our only complaint is the nacho chips, not very good. The rest of the food is awesome!

We went in 8/05 and really enjoyed it. I was a little nervous because it doesn't always get the greatest reviews, but my kids absolutely love El Rio del Tiempo and we ride at least 3-4 times when we are there, so we thought we would try it out and I am really glad we did!!

We had lunch there last Wednesday, and were VERY pleasantly surprised. Everything was quite good (especially the margaritas!!), and we will definitely go back. We agree that the chips stink, though. Straight out of a bag!!

I thought my DW was the only one that liked that ride!!! :lmao:

Thanks for all your input, I have added this to my list of ADR's.

It has been several years since our meal there. I really think you pay for the atmosphere here- I loved that. Very romantic! The food was to me no different than any fast food Mexican. But I am not a connoisseur of Mexican food either. But it was still fine. I remember that the service wasn't very smooth. I had to pay cash for my margarita which was fine but then I had to ASK for my change back from a $20! How embarrasing! And I know back then a virgin strawberry margarita was only about $3! It was very nice but feel no need to rush back. I doubt wheather you'll be sorry to at least try it once. :)

We used to go there every trip, but have avoided it the last several times. I admit it we are Mexican Food snobs as we eat it probably 2-3 times a week. We also are bigger fans of Tex-Mex based on where we live. The food has just seemed to go down in quality and the service is only average at best. We love the ride and do it everytime we go but have been avoiding the resturant.

I've never eaten there, but there are pictures of some food from San Angel on the "Post your pictures of Disney Food" thread that is stickied at the top of this page. Maybe that will help you decide.

Ok, I'm in Texas and I ADORE spicy TexMex food. If I go to San Angel Inn, it's for the atmosphere, the fantastic margaritas and maybe an appetizer to split between friends/family. The food, to me, tends to be bland and the chips aren't great. So, while I don't mind an afternoon snack - personally, I don't want to blow a whole sit-down meal.

If you asked me 5 years ago I would say that the food was very average, but to go for the atmosphere. Now, however, they have upgraded the food. I feel it is a lot better than it used to be and I recommend it. It's not the very best mexican I have ever eaten, but it is certainly not "fast food quality" any more. It's worth the lunch prices IMO.

Ugh. Bland, bland, bland Americanized Mexican food. Beautiful atmosphere, but in my opinion the worst of the World Showcase table service restaurants.

I haven't eaten here in years but would like to give it a try - DH is not a huge fan of Mexican though.

I've been spoiled lately by a couple of great Mexican places in the Atlanta area and will have a tough time going back for the mediocre run-of-the-mill joints that you generally see everywhere with the interchangable menus.

That said, I love the atmosphere of the Mexican place at Epcot, but the food is equal to that of those lesser, interchangable places. Hint: if you can order a 'combination plate', odds are you are at one of those not-so-good spots.

This is one of our favorite "must do" places for an adults only meal. We love the atmosphere and the drinks so we really don't notice the food. It is ok with us! but watch out for the Margarita / Boat combo. Did you ever notice that there are not any side rails on the boats??? :teeth: Well my SiL sure knows! :rotfl2: She was almost a Margarita casuality, they really are good.

I hear that the atmosphere is really cool with the pyramid in the back and seeing the ride go through. I would like to try it or maybe sit down for a margharita or six. But when it comes to a drunken Tex-Mex night, only one thing comes to mind: The Trudy's Challenge - Austin, Texas.

Foobs :earsboy:

I thought it was easily the worst of our dining plan dinners. We used to like it pretty good, but did not think it was good at all our last trip. The steak tasted like a piece of microwaved jerky. Atmosphere is very nice, however.
