San Angel Inn - lunch vs. dinner

Hi everyone! I'm DYING to try San Angel Inn on our trip to WDW this August (less than two weeks to go! :cool1:), but since my traveling party and I are trying to stick to a budget as best we can, I booked late lunch ADRs at San Angel instead of dinner reservations...and that'll be our one big TS meal for the day.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some perspective on whether the lunch and dinner menus are very different as far as menu options? Am I missing out on anything especially good by not going for dinner? ;)

I was also wondering if the lunchtime prices are significantly cheaper than those on the dinner menu, and whether the portions are smaller (just curious)?

Thanks SO much! :goodvibes

As far as the options and pricing are concerned, you can check out the menus at AllEars.Net for a good idea of what they contain. (Don't know why the official site doesn't include Epcot restaurants /boggle).

Portion size would likely be similar, but I just don't know the actual answer to that one.

My guess is that it's because a number of them (including San Angel) are not operated by Disney. Used to be they'd have the menus for the restaurants they operated, but not the ones they didn't. I think recently they were not posting any of them.

I ate lunch at San Angel on Monday. Can't go into too much detail as I didn't pay that much attention but I can write that:

1) The AllEars menu does not reflect the current menu. I'm sure some of the items are the same but some are not. They did have the Mexican lunch available but the entree was flank steak and not pork.

2) There's plenty to choose from on the lunch menu and the prices are lower. I had fish tacos. I thought they were great, personally. The server told me that some customers were complaining about them, she believed it was because there is cactus in the salsa garnish and they thought it was a "weird" flavor.

Exactly what the differences are between the lunch and dinner menus I couldn't tell you because I didn't study the dinner menu.

Any idea of a site that does have the current menu? We're eating there next week and I'd like to check over the current offerings.

I've found about 4 sites with conflicting menus.

Any idea if they're still offering the plato mexicano?

San Angel seems to take a beating here on the boards, but we enjoy it and go almost every time we make it down to the world. Enjoy your lunch ! :thumbsup2

I did not notice a plato mexicano on the lunch menu. Doesn't mean it wasn't there, just that I didn't notice it.

We ate lunch on our last trip and we thought it was fantastic. In fact, it was one of our nicest throughout that trip! Have a nice lunch!

I had the fish tacos just this past Thursday. They were *very* good, and surprisingly filling.

We have enjoyed both lunch and dinner here.

Wife and I go for the romantic theme. Inside it is always twilight hour. Food is just a side dish. Order something you have no access to at home. If you don't like it, just order a few more XX.

:wizard:

The lunch menu seems to me to lean a little more towards "tex mex" which may mean we American's like it more, but even then as TDC Nala points out it's not what you get at the cheap Mexican around the corner (and I say that positively.... :) I enjoy Tex Mex and true Mexican, but the food in Mexico never bears any resemblance to the food they sell here as "Mexican" :) )
