San Angel Inn IN Epcot, is it good?

We ate there in 05 (yes it's been awhile) and we LOVED it, we thought it was very good (I'm half Mexican) and seemed pretty authentic, very much more so then the Tex-Mex food we're used too here. Plus you can't beat the view

It's pretty bad--noisy, crowded, tables impossibly close together, so-so food and even worse service.

I went and can say that it was not horrible. It was not as good as mex I have had in other places. In the southwest you get super fantastic mex food. I was floored by how good the food was at a recent trip made ot Arizona. NO mex food I have had since has been this good. BUT, while the food at San Angel was not horrible it was not great. It was good . In fact it was good enough for a possible return trip. My kids had a rough time finding something on the menu. They are used to a different sort of menu at a mex place.

We went there for the first time this past May. I was expecting horrible food from some of the reviews and comments on here, but I thought the food was good... we both enjoyed our food very much! Anyways, does anybody really go there for the food? I always thought it was for the atmosphere, which is great!! :)

We ate there for the first time last month, and we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
We asked to sit by the water, and they told us if we were willing to wait a few minutes we could. We waited about 10 minutes, and then we were seated right by the water.
Fun meal.

Does "by the water" mean a table closest to the ride/attraction. Over in front of the volcano??? I just never heard anyone mention a table as "by the water" in San Angel Inn. :confused3

I am going to eat there someday, despite mixed reviews. I like to make up my own mind and so far -- I've not gotten anything bad at WDW. :)

This one of my family’s favorite. We go there on every trip. We'll be there next month!! :cheer2:

It's not bad at all. The atmosphere is nice. Some folks complain about the noise, but it's no more noisy than just about any other place at WDW. The food is good. Sure, it's not fabulously luxurious, five-star, tuxedo fare. But unless you go expecting that, you won't be disappointed.

I've always wanted to try it and DH and I are on our upcoming December trip. I've read the bad reviews but I really think most of them stem from what people in the U.S. consider "mexican" food. What we eat in the U.S. is mostly Tex Mex. It is very, very different from the food served in Mexico.

Most of the reviews I've seen of San Angel Inn mention people going in and ordering the Plato Especial which is the closest thing that the restaurant serves to Tex Mex food. Even though it's close, it's NOT the same and people get upset because it isn't what they get at their neighborhood Don Pablo's/Chichi's/On the Border.

I've heard bad reviews about other WDW restaurants, eaten at them despite of it and LOVED them. I just take the news with a grain of salt and move on. I hope you are happy with whatever decision you make, OP.
