has anyone eaten at the san angel inn for lunch recently. or even dinner for that matter. How did you like it?? How was your service? How was the food. Are there any dishes or desserts that are not to be missed??? how would you rate your overal experience here?? Thanks for all of your reviews! pictures would be great also!

It seems that most people either love or had San Angel Inn, so you will probably get quite a few conflicting views.

The Wife and I really enjoy having lunch there. Since it is dark inside the Mexican pavilion, to simulate evening, it almost feels like another dinner......but with lunch prices. It is one of the few things in Disney where I almost feel that I'm getting a deal.

Also, the menu is not the Tex-Mex that seems to be more prevalent in the US. If you haven't already, take a look at the menu on AllEars. If it looks good, give it a shot and decide for yourself.

Ruuuuuun Awaaaaaaay!
Love the atmosphere--- but the only thing worse than the lukewarm food is the horrible service.

The Nachos de Pollo are great!!! I highly reccomend getting them. THe service wasn't bad at all, I guess it all depends on the server.

This was mine and my boyfriend's first Disney meal together, this past September! We split the vegetarian combo plate and shared a virgin strawberry margarita. The atmosphere was so beautiful and romantic, although it was a bit dark. If you can't see well in dark lighting, I suggest bringing one of those little light-up cards for reading menus. But our service was nice, and we got seated quickly without reservations. The margarita was AMAZING, and the food was good too. I would eat there again, mostly for the margarita :) Can't get virgin ones at the Cantina de San Angel!

The food is not authentic Mexican nor Tex Mex. Being from a part of the country where we have authentic Mexican on every corner, we thought this was the worst food we've ever had at WDW. If that is what you are expecting, I would not go here.

Haven't been there recently, but while I thought the food was just fine and did eat all of it, there wasn't anything there that must not be missed. Except maybe the giant bowl o' margarita, if they're still selling it.

The atmosphere doesn't impress me. There are too many tables and they're way too close together.

Just to show that these are all opinions and just that, our son's girlfriend was born and raised in Mexico City and love the food here. Says it reminds her of home. :lmao:

Glad to hear you enjoyed. Has she been to the original in Mexico City? It has ties to the one in EPCOT. The original San Angel Inn is owned by the Debler family. Ricky Debler is the President of San Angel Inn LLC, which operates the one in EPCOT.

We have always had good meals here. Last September, my DH went for lunch by himself while I took our girls to Akershus. He LOVED the chicken nachos and is STILL raving about them!!! LOL :lmao:

We went there for lunch we did not like it. We are from Texas so there are Mexican rest. all over. It was also too dark.

I think its hard to pinpoint "authentic" Mexican food. And I do know that many of us live in the southwest and have lots of family owned, mom and pop restaurants and San Angel may very well not taste like any of them. However, Mexico is a large country, with lots of regions so it would go to reason that there are various forms of authentic Mexian cuisine. Just as there are many forms of American food from fried okra in Texas to clam chowder in New England. Is one absolutely more authentic than the other one? San Angel may be as authentic as Taco Bell or it may be the real deal of some region in Mexico not commonly found in American based Mexican restaurants. No idea but we have enjoyed many a great meal there and never had anything but fine service. It is definitely not Tex Mex and Tex Mex (my personal fave, I am from Texas after all) is not the only style of Mexican to be found and therefore not the last word on what is true Mexican food. I live in Colorado now and most people here find Tex Mex to taste like a tv dinner which is why the vast majority of Tex Mex restaurants have gone by the wayside. Too bad, I love Tex Mex! But I think San Angel is also good, just in a different sort of way.

I have to chuckle, this restaurant gets more people worked up over how much they hate it than any place else! I once got called a moron by someone who just was convinced I had to be one to like this place.

I always say give anything a try, your taste buds are just that, yours!

People are strange. Hmmmmm good name for a song. :lmao: :lmao:

Gotta love that about the Dis (and most boards actually). I saw a thread where someone was complaining about a resort and said they had a terrible time there and another poster was arguing telling them they were wrong! That they actually had a good time and were too stupid to recognize that. What???? People confuse opinion with fact. :rotfl:

We've been several times, both lunch and dinner and enjoyed it tremendously.
We were fortunate to get outgoing and competent servers every time :thumbsup2

As for the 'too dark' :rotfl: My first time there I ran smack into one of those HUGE serving trays which was on a wait stand :rotfl2:

Uh..I'm not known for my gracefulness under the best of conditions let alone after a fiesta Margarita & in dim lights :lmao:
