Hello all visiting Epcot for the first time and we're too late for ADR's at the other places, but we love Mexican food please tell me about this place is it a sit down or can we get counter service how is the food and the seating? TIA

San Angel Inn is a table service restaurant inside the pyramid. The food is great in my experience - it gets mixed reviews, but I do think a lot of people expect it to be Tex-Mex or typical burritos and tacos. The atmosphere is wonderful - it's like being on a moonlit terrace looking out across a river at a somewhat distant volcano.

There is a Mexican counter service restaurant called Cantina del San Angel (I think) - it's across the walkway from the pyramid, on the shore of the lagoon.

Yes there are restaurants in Mexico, San Angel Inn (the TS place) and Cantina San Angel (CS place).

We have eaten in the San Angel Inn and loved it. The atmosphere is fabulous and very romantic. There is a little boat ride in the pavillion and the restaurant sits on the river, it is lit like you are outside at dusk on the mexican river.......so cool!!
The food is very good, but as PP said, it is not Tex Mex and more traditional than Americans are used to, so check out the menu online before you go. Make sure there is something you like.

I highly recommend it for a nice, romantic evening dinner.

It is very good! My boys love it too, they want me to make DR for our October trip!

The Inn is another restaurant that is not what it was. The last 2 times we have eaten there the food was either cold or just not good. Also, I know of a lot of people who have felt pretty awful after eating there.

Please note that the cantina is closed for refurb and is due to open late September.

We've enjoyed San Angel every time we've been there. The tables are a little crowded in, but otherwise the experience is great.

We love it too . . . never had a problem. The tables are a bit tight, but the atmospere is really nice. Best chips and salsa I've ever had. I agree with other posters, the menu is not typical "American-style Mexican", but that's what I love about the restaurants in World Showcase - always get to try something new!

Definitely take a look at the menu. My wife and I used to eat there. They changed the menu a little while back, and now there is nothing on there she will eat. She is picky though. I think the food is okay, nothing great.

The service is okay. Definitely lacking when compared to other Disney restaurants.

It is not a place I would go out of my way for. There are plenty of other good options in EPCOT.

You can't beat the atmosphere. It is crowded but the overall experience is very good. I love the Pollo a las rajas.

San Angle has been our first day, start of the vacation, restaurant for the past 5 trips. We just seem to keep going there on every trip.

Cantina de San Angel (the counter service) is closed for refurbishment until sometime in September. There is a temporary CS outside the pavilion, but it provides no seating.

No seating, but it's still a nice place for a quick snack. My girlfriend and I spent a few minutes sitting on the pyramid steps on a beautiful January afternoon sharing a plate of chips and guacamole. It is a nice memory from that trip.

This restaurant gets mixed reviews even in families. :lmao: My DH does not care for it. He's a pasta man. I like it.

Thank you all I made a ADR for lunch there even though it gets mixed reviews I really want to try it :)

DBF have been there twice, most recently last September. I really like it.

HOWEVER...I'd say if you're not up for eating anything a bit different, you may not like it. DBF is a picky eater and doesn't care for it.

They don't have tacos, burritos, tostadas....it's traditional Mexican food.

That said, I love it and the atmosphere is great.

Despite the reviews, I encourage you to try it. You never know if you will agree or disagree with other people.

I tend to be in the minority of people who actually enjoyed my food here at the SAI. I was there in May with my mom, and we both enjoyed what we ordered. The atmosphere is fantastic...very unique.

I have loved San Angel's since I was about 12, and I'm 30 now. I don't always like the menu choices, and neither did my husband when we went there for our pre wedding dinner with family, but other members of the family LOVED everything on the menu.

It is worth it for the atmosphere ... and at least the chips and salsa are good lol. I believe they have the typical kids menu so kids will be able to eat.

Try it during lunchtime ... I think they switch the menus out and it seems the meals I have really enjoyed were during lunch ... for my wedding party meet and greet we were there later in the evening.

Hope that helps some! At least step in and shop and ride the ride ... it is a slow moving boat ride, so no need to be scared. It's one of my favorite places in EPCOT so I hope you enjoy it.

My DS wants to try SA this upcoming trip.
Hopefully it will be opened when we go in Sept.
I was trying to get reviews about the seafood on another there but
I guess noone has ever eaten the seafood.
All of the mixed reviews do worry me but from what I read in the
reviews--chips out of a bag, to dark, tables to close together,
slow service all seem petty. So we are going to try it.
