San Angel Inn was Darla’s suggestion. I was hesitant because of all the poor reviews it gets, but since we had no meal planned I said sure, if we can get in. Our lucky day, its 1130 and there was no wait for a seat. Since we were using the DDP we each can have an appetizer, an entrée, a drink and a dessert. We each order a different appetizer and entrée so we can try the most different things.

The prettiest dish by far was Dustin’s Ceviche (cold seafood in what tasted/looked like a salsa fresca). It was pretty good, but since Darla is allergic to shellfish and we forgot to ask what seafood was in it, she bypassed this one in our tastes tests.

I can’t remember what Darla ordered for an appetizer. Carl ordered the Sopa Azteca – it was just okay. I had the creamy corn soup. This was my favorite of the appetizers and a big hit with everybody. It was creamy and cheesy and just a very wonderful tasting, though dull looking soup. White soup in a white bowl does not equally visual stimulation.
Sorry there are no soup pictures, but it didn't photograph well.

The entrees were a mixed bag. Carl had the Carne Asada Tampiquena – his steak was the biggest hit of lunchtime.

Dustin tried the Plato Mexicano but only really liked his cheese quesadilla so Carl shared his steak so everybody got enough to eat.

I ordered the Pollo a las Rajas which was chicken breast w/ peppers and cheese (and chorizo which I hated, it was like eating little hard sponges and about as flavorful). This was all right, but the cheese sauce was a bit too rich for me.

Darla had the Ensalada Mexicana which is a mixed greens salad with chicken in a fried tortilla bowl.

Dessert was pretty boring here. The only thing that sounded good at all was the Flan w/ almonds. It was okay, but nothing spectacular.

Thanks for the review with pics!

At least some of you had a decent meal :) .

Enjoyed reading your reviews, thanks for posting.

Lovely photos.

Everyone has their own taste buds. Which is part of what makes life great. The Pollo a las Rajas is my "must-have" dish when I go to Epcot. I just love that rich sauce. Just looking at the photo makes me want to make some for dinner.

Great pics, thank you. In my opinion, one of the best things at San Angel is the atmosphere. The food was okay, but it is a nice place to sit and had a cerveza (or 5!)

Thanks for the review! We went last year for dinner. We enjoyed it and loved the atmosphere. We had the nachos for appie and I ate the Chicken Mole which was good and DH ate the combo platter. We where too full for dessert, but desserts did not sound too tempting anyways.
