Samsung Galaxy 5s & Straight talk

Can you guys help me out? My DS wants a Galaxy 5s and we're looking to bring it to the straight talk plan. Verizon works best in our area so we need a Galaxy 5s for Verizon. Ok that sounds easy enough but I'm clueless on what to buy. We don't have any smart phones and reading some info on the net just seems greek to me.

So we are looking on Amazon cause we have prime and looking at used, cause they are cheaper. What do I need to know to get the right phone, in laymens terms please. And if anyone see's one on amazon that would work and could supply a link that would be very much appreciated. I don't want to buy a phone then have it not work.

You can buy an unlocked Galaxy S5 and use it with any carrier including straight talk but if you buy a Verizon Galaxy S5 then you can only use it with the Verizon prepaid plan or Verizon edge plan.

I would not buy used unless it comes with a warranty as certified refurbished. There have been issues with the S5 which is why they released the S6 two days ago - just 8 months after they released the S5. We just bought phones for the whole family and everywhere we looked that had the S5 on display the display phones was broken in some way shape or form.

If you are looking to save money on the phone itself you could also look at the Galaxy Alpha - which is like an S5 only smaller dimensions, fixed memory and costs about $300 or less new.

I can't say for sure about the Galaxy, but I have the iPhone 5s on Straight Talk. And I LOVE IT.
I used it Disney last year and service is Rocking.

Now here is the thing. It depends what the phone is linked to the towers.

Turns out Straight Talk have 2 versions of iPhone 5s. One that uses Verizon towers and the other uses AT&T.

I got the AT&T (and making sure) because the LTE service is way better than V's network. V is better for voice, but Data is AT&T.

Check out Swappa for an unlocked used Galaxy. Look for a seller with a lot of reviews.

I have an IPhone 4 on ST (bring your own device). I bought the sim card from ST and have had no issues in 27 months. Customer service is fine IMO. My phone was an AT&T and I use AT&T's towers. I really want to upgrade to get a newer phone with LTE speed, but I just can't stomach it right now.

Simonsayz how do I make sure that these phones will use Verizon towers? I know that talk and text is better w/Verizon where we are. I"m not worried about the data because more than likely that will be used over wifi the majority of the time.
