Anybody stay here (Samoa) since the building went to Non-Smoking?

Did they change out all the bedding and carpets when they did the rehabs last year? Smoke smell can still be apparent if they didn't change out everything.

Any info would be great.

Thanks
RayJ

We stayed here last summer right after the rehab. We didn't have any problems with smoke (DS is asthmatic). But, the moldy smell still was there ever so slightly (I'm allergic to mold).

Thanks for the reply Jel, but that is my concern.

There shouldn't be any smell if the bedding and carpets were replaced along with fresh paint, unless it's in the ventilation system. Sounds like you guys did OK, DS being asthmatic and all.

Anybody else experience moldy smells?

Thanks
RayJay

RayJay - the smell came from the ventilation system. There are new motion sensors in the rooms, which turn down the airconditioning when it senses no movement in the room. So, as soon as we would return, the air would kick-in and you'd get the scent from the air that was being blown in. I thought the rehab was supposed to fix this problem, and it is MUCH better, but not completely fixed IMO. When they do the rehabs, they did replace the carpeting and completely remove all the furniture. I'm guessing everything was throughly cleaned, since with the exception of the initial turn on of the air, we didn't have any problems.
