Ok guys, you know I love you all. That's why I have put up a video of my embarrassing parasailing adventure with Sammy Duvall's. I gotta say, this was one of the scariest things I have ever done (besides ride ToT... :rotfl2:) and I am only posting this video because I know that you, my dear Dis'ers, would enjoy it. About 3/4 of the way through there is a tribute to Pete... :thumbsup2

So.... drum roll please.... here we go.

Lol!!! I love it! (And this folks is why you'll probably never see me do this!)

Yeah, I'll never do it again. :rotfl2:

I was shaking the whole rest of the day. BUT, on the upside, the "big rides" were a piece of cake the rest of that trip... :rolleyes1

We were going to take DD15 and her friend parasailing in April. My DD is afraid if heights but thinks she can do it because the experience outweighs the fear. I should probably let her watch your video to get an idea of what it will be like. Once she sees this, NO WAY will she do it. LOL!! She will very politely say "No thank you" when she will be thinking "Oh h*** no"!

Well, you can tell her that if I can do it and live to tell about it, she can do it!! If I had been up there alone it would have been a different story, but DH and I were under the weight limit so we went together, and that helped a lot. If the girls went up together I think they would be fine.

Seriously, it took me 3 whole trips to get up the nerve to do Expedition Everest, and 4 whole trips to do ToT.... that just goes to show you how much of a wimp I am :rotfl: DH enjoyed it, though he was nervous up there, too. You just can't hear him over my screaming :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :wave2:

So I just told DH that I put the video up on YouTube. He said (((blank stare))).

:lmao:

You should be very proud of yourself. You just gave voice to what almost everyone must feel when they commit to it for the first time. I'll let you know in November! :cheer2:

GOOD LUCK!!!! Honestly the staff is awesome and I never felt "unsafe"... just terrified :scared: :rotfl2:

Makes for some good laughs, though :upsidedow

LOL I just watched this entire video. I love heights and ToT is my favorite ride... This is definitely in my future!! You were hilarious, but such a good sport. :thumbsup2

You did great! I'm 'knee shaking' scared of hights and Dh and I did parasailing at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Now...Dh is NOT afraid of heights and we rode tandom. Well, I was in front of him, so I was obstructing his view, so he would lean far to one side, then the other so he could see better...positively terrifying me. I was honestly fine as long there wasn't a lot of movement but everytime DH would lean, I would absolutely panic. I've never regretted doing it, but DH and I will have a serious talk before doing something like that together again.

Honestly, all of you who are afraid of heights...I really am knee shaking afraid but I force myself to do some things and I've never regretted one of them.

The 12 minutes is 10 times longer when you are up there alone. We took our family (8of us) and we all rode solo. Seven loved it. Yes I'm the one who did not. I hated this almost as much as Zip lining in the South American rainforest. I'm in the wrong family.

Thank you for sharing. I wanted to try that on our trip coming up. You have now convinced me that I should stay far away :lmao:;):rotfl::rotfl2::wave2:

LOL no you should totally do it! Though, I too wouldn't have done it if I had seen a video from actually UP there. :faint:

What a wonderful video! I don't think it was humiliating at all. I have a couple of questions I wonder if you or others might answer. I'm a single dad and my 2 kids are 17 and 14 (boy girl). We have gone annually since 2003 (divorce year, I have custody by the way) and you mentioned being under the weight limit. I weigh 250 lbs so there is probably no way I could ride except solo. I was wondering if my 2 kids could ride together. I would estimate their combined weight to be about 290. Can 2 minors ride together with my permission? And even better could I ride in the boat while they are up? We arrive this year on Aug 18, and I would LOVE to surprise them with this. If anyone can answer these I would love to hear.

I think that answers most of your questions.

My wife and have done the tandem twice so obviously we enjoyed it more than the OP did. ;)

On one of our trips there was a family of four in the boat with us and the wife did not fly so there should be no problem with you being in the boat with them and not fly yourself.

LOL Thanks so much for posting it!! (I think you did great, btw:thumbsup2)
I live by the ocean and have always wanted to parasail, but never did. Now that I see how relatively calm it is up there, I want to go - and I'm figuring if you got through it, I can!;)
One question - so you never are IN the water? they just pull you right down onto the boat. I'm not much of a swimmer and the thought of being drug through the water (like water skiing) has been my fear. LOL

Very amusing self-commentary. I particularly like how you cataloged all the various noises you made.

That is soooo cool! We did parasailing at a lake in Wisconsin about 15 yrs ago, but it is on my "bucket list" to do parasailing at Disney World. So will try to make that happen during one of our visits this year.
You did a great job on the video ... Yee Haaa:thumbsup2

Was this shot with a helmet-cam? Or somehow mounted on the structure itself? I'm going to guess you weren't holding the camera yourself!

And is it supplied by Sammy Duvall, or did you have to bring your own?

All those years of renting the boats on Bay Lake, maybe it's time to step up.

thanks.
