Same Use Years for Add Ons?

We have a June UY at AKV and the 2 add ons we have done through Disney have each been in our June UY. Now, I was just placed on the wait list with our guide for points at BCV, I am assuming that they would be with a June UY also. So, here is my question. We are also considering a resale at BCV, but it probably would not have a June UY. Can we do that? What impact would having 2 different UYs have problems for us trying to borrow points at the 11 or 7 month time frames?

Yes, you can certainly purchase a resale with a different Use Year - but it will be a separate contract and will not be considered an add-on.

It will require some more effort to track your points but it is entirely workable. You might want to download Caskbill's free point manager (www.caskbill.com) to assist with tracking your points.

By definintion, an add-on will have the same Use Year as your master contract and DVC will even combine resale purchases that have the same Use Year (you might need to let them know in advance though - it does not always happen automatically).

Enjoy! :)

To expand on what Doc said, a contract with a different use year will have a different membership number. You can not combine the points easily at 7 months to use for a single reservation, you would need to actually transfer points from one contract to another to use points from both for the same night. You are limited to one transfer per use year, either in or out, but not both.

And you'll have to keep in mind that your annual banking deadline would be different for both contracts.

I have the same question. As a follow-up, I assume that means I can't combine points (unless I use my once a year transfer)? So, for example, say I have 6 points left in my resale contract with the different UY. I can't add points from my master contract to have enough points to book an additional night somewhere, right? I would instead have to bank those 6 points, and use my master contract for all points needed to book the additional night?

EDIT - Thanks ChuckS - you just answered my question!
