Hypothetical (at this point)...

My friend and I have secured a concierge studio at AKV for 3 nights in Oct 2025 for our annual trip. I would like to invite my dad to join us but I would want him to have his own studio for those nights. Could I list him on my reservation so that he can have lounge access? We would not be over the limit.

I have done the 'same guest, multiple reservations' thing multiple times. It works and it's permissible.

However, sometimes MagicBands get a little squirrelly as MyDisney Experience isn't really designed for someone to be checked into multiple rooms at the same time. MBs will just stop working at doors (more than normal) and you might need front desk trips to get them working again.

The new 'Use MagicBand for door' functionality in MDE/WDW app might make this a lot easier to manage/repair, though.

It might work, but it might also cause issues. We've had real problems twice when trying to do something similar with the same name on 2 reservations, and both times it caused access problems to the original room. We got it straightened out at the front desk, but it took a little time. I'd recommend you just ask for a card at the front desk that will access the 6th floor and the lounge, and give it to your dad. He can use it to access the elevator (or he can ride up the elevator with you). We've found that to be the simplest solution - you're entitled to 4 people in the lounge with your room, so it's not breaking any rules, IMO.

Are you staying on points? If not, and you add him, you may have to pay the additional adult fee. I believe it's either $30 or $35 per night. If points, then it doesn't apply.

This is accurate, just left GF club level and had this discussion. Room can has capacity for up to 5 adults, but if more than 2 18+ there is an additional fee.

Staying on points...but thanks for the heads up!

Reviving old thread--

Is it only magicbands that have the issue when someone is on two rooms at the same time?

Im traveling with my extended family where we'll all be staying in a 3 bedroom grand villa. Halfway through the stay, more family will be joining so I'm kicking my brother and SIL out and and they're moving to a studio. This is our first WDW stay of 2025 and he planned on using the water park benefit both days.

Can he just get a separate keycard for each room and avoid MB issues?

Yes, you can get a key card for the GV for those moving to the studio. It won’t be linked to him.
