One of our favorite things to do at DHS is to sit at Starring Rolls with a plate of smoked salmon, cream cheese and bagels and watch the world go by. We were devastated on our May trip that this item had been deleted from the menu :sad2:

I've been on AllEars this evening looking over menus for our upcoming December trip and noticed that Starring Rolls had a Sept. 2009 update. I looked, and sure enough, the salmon is now back on the menu

Can anyone confirm this?

Oh that sounds so good! We need to have a meal or snack there. Someone else posted about their delicious butterfinger cupcakes. Next thing I know I'll be giving up Ohana to go have a salmon bagel and cupcake.:goodvibes

DW knows that the biggest reason I am willing to go to The Studios is because we started the day with Smoked Salmon, cream cheese and bagels at Starring Roles Cafe! It was just a thing that we looked forward to each time. It was never very crowded, always had a table to sit at, never felt pressured to give up the seats, and watched the crown go by with big smiles.

It was so disappointing last May when we found that it had been discontinued.

Last evening when DW said it looked like the Salmon was back on the menu, joy was in my heart and on my face! But now it has somewhat been dashed again, as TillyMarigold reports it still is not available.

If it wasn't for Toy Story Mania, with no smoked salmon at Starring Roles Cafe, I would skip The Studios on our next trip.

That sounds like a lovely tradition. I was just there last month, but for lunch, so I didn't notice about the bagels. I hope they are back, I would love to do this on our next trip.
Funny thing about DHS... We will always visit it once when we are at the world, just for ToT, Animation Class, TSM, and the kids adore Star Tours. Oh, and a stop at Writer's Stop for afternoon latte and snacks. They have some really cool things we love, but I just wish there was more of it! They could really get rid of some of the lamer stuff and make this an amazing park.

Where is Starring Rolls? I don't think I've ever seen it.

it's off to the right, down a couple steps right when you get to the main intersection in Hollywood Studios -- like if you turned right you'd be going towards Tower of Terror & Rock N Roller Coaster. It's just there on the corner - if you look you'll see some outside wrought iron tables with umbrellas-Starring Rolls is tucked back in there. When you're facing those tables, the big candy store is to the right, and Brown Derby is to the left.

Starring Rolls serves pre-made deli sandwiches for lunch, too but once they run out, that's all there is. And the place is not open in the evening.

Don't count on the allears "update" being a true update. Have seen this kind of situation over & over...allears is a volunteer site and the info is frequently incorrect. It's good for a general idea of what might be on the menu but can't count on specifics at all.

Oh, yeah; I forgot about my favorite afternoon indulgence- Writer's Stop!

So OK, getting old has its problems, but getting old allows one to enjoy a slow pace through the fast paced world. Writer's Stop is one of those places.

I love to talk to those older folks working in the shops, and at Writer's Stop, there always seems to be a few with character - I love it!

I should make it clear that the *bagels* were there when I went and they were very good ... it was just the lox they didn't have. You could get them with cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, or I think jam.

I just wanted to pipe in and say that at 1900 Park Fare, there was a station that offered lox, capers, and onions for bagels, there was also a delicious salmon spread in addition to herbed cream cheese and regular cream cheese for bagels. The only downside was the actual bagels, they were smallish and not the tastiest.

Thanks to all that responded. I guess we'll just have to wait until we get there to know for sure though it doesn't sound very promising.

If you find out they are not there and are looking for them close by. Cape May Cafe has them on the breakfast buffet at the Beach CLub - just a boat ride away. I know it doesn't help with the people watching, but maybe it could feel a void.
