So can someone help me with a brief calculation. I am very confused as to the sales tax & what amount to base the tip on.

We have the DDP included already as part of our booking, and I know we dont pay tips on QS meals. Do we pay Sales tax on the QS meals? and on Snacks?

With the TS meals, do they calculate the sales tax on the total bill amount for us to pay, or just the sales tax on extra's that are not included in the DDP? Do we pay the tip amount based on the total, total with tax?

For example, if we ordered the below, can someone explain the extra we would pay, just so I have it in my head? Also it is 6.5% in Orlando? Or do we not have any tax to pay?

Starters = $20
Mains = $60 (Part of DDP)
Desserts = $20 (Part of DDP)
Drinks included in DDP = $10 (Part of DDP)
Drinks not included in DDP = $25

Total = $135
Total for us to pay = $45

Thanks guys. I think I've gotten myself very muddled up today, at least its friday! :)

We did the QSDP and we didnt pay anything towards our meals or our snacks, so you dont need to worry about sales tax.

Cant help with the TS though, but id think you just pay a tip?

The tax is about 6.5% in Orlando and is on everything outside Disney. I think sometimes in Disney like ice cream bars and pop were tax free.

As for tipping on DDP, you get a bill with the full amount on, then less your TS credits leaving what is due, we tipped on the full amount as service is service regardless of what was free.

If I remember right, most actually had 10%,15%,20% on the bill and you circled the one you wanted, we just charged all our extras and tips to our room.

Hope this helps.

Sales tax are 6.5% in Florida. There is also a 10% tax added to each purchase made at the airport (including gas and car upgrade at MCO)

You don't pay any tax when you use a dining plan credit. But you will pay the sales tax on any item not covered by the dining plan (appetizers, alcoholic drinks, and such)
No tax on snacks and CS, except if you purchase an additional sides or another drink, or anything not covered by your dining plan

For TS, your check will include the 18% and 20% amount for your check. So you don't need to worry about calculating

You need to write down the amount you wish to tip on the receipt

you pay the tip based on the pre-tax total of your check.

Sales tax varies by countyin florida, we paid between 6.5 and 7% as it depends what county your in

They aren't tax free but at some of the carts in the parks they will state the price including sales tax so the price you see is the price you pay. It always states on the menu/price list whether or not tax is included. Very few times it is, usually at the refreshment carts, and it will state this; most of the time it is not.

Just going to add, in my research I found that the tip is % of food / drink cost before sales tax, not after sales tax is added, plus Disney show you the recommended tips on the bill, so that's kind of helpful as I would have tipped 15% of the total including sales tax as I just look at the final amount, if it was me, so I end up tipping 21.5% but instead I be following the Disney guideline of 18% and 20%.

Yes, that is correct - tip is worked out on thee net total before tax; and they do put either 18 or 20% on the bill as a guideline now and have been for a few years. They used to have a 15 % option in there but that's been gone for a while now.
