Yes - like someone else said watch Hocus Pocus! I heard they will be filming this summer for Hocus Pocus 2. You can walk around and see all the houses in the movie. There is the Salem Witch Museum, Pirate Museum, House of Seven Gables, cemetery with the Salem Witch Memorial, lots of witchy shops, ghost walking tours, a ship tour of the ship Friendship, harbour tours, there's a lot to do there. And since it's not October it won't be super crowded and can actually see stuff. We go around Halloween and it's crazy though we haven't been since the pandemic.

I'd say it's definitely worth the small detour! I haven't been in a long time, but I enjoyed it when I went.

Definitely worth swinging by Salem. Go to the Witch Museum (salemwitchmuseum.com). It's kinda creepy, kinda campy, but definitely worth it. When we were in Salem in April the Gables was a self-guided tour. I wouldn't pay for that, but it's fun to walk along the waterfront, out onto the breakwater, look at the old buildings. There are quite a few signs along the way, telling you about the building or what used to be on the site. Also go to Ye Olde Pepper Candy Comapnie on Derby St. They have an incredible selection of chocolates, and make what is claimed to be the oldest candy sold in this country- Gibralters. They were good... didn't love the Black Jacks, though, even though I am a licorice fan.

Have fun at Acadia National Park, but be prepared for crowds. They were waiting in line to hike the Beehive a few weeks ago, and the parking for Sand Beach started about at the payment booth and parking was solid well past Thunder Hole. Like with everyplace this summer, make sure to pack your patience (and wave to me when you take the exit off I95- I live just north of Bangor)!
