Salad/dressing general question

When you are brought salad @ a family style dinner...like 'Ohana or LTT...can you request that the dressing be served on the side? Also at Mama Melrose too...? Some in our party do not like dressing.

I've never done it (since I love dressing, especially WDW Raspberry vinegarette) but I'm sure you can.
