Sailing with the Gang...DCL magic, Feb. 2016

I'm all caught up. I'm enjoying all the reading so far. There was too much to comment on, but this looks like a fabulous trip. Oh, one request since I love purses. Can you post a picture of which Dooney crossbody you got?

Great update, I'm loving all these fabulous pictures! I think I must get to Atlantis someday, it is right up my alley.

It is such a pretty resort. I would love to stay there someday.

I think I've read all of your trip reports. So glad I found this one.

Yay! Glad you found me!

I loved all the photos from the aquarium. They came out really well.

Corinna

It's such a pretty place. I would love to visit some day. I need to get that money tree growing though first.

Love the Chihuly photos! Bummed the Magic doesn't have hers any longer.

Me too. And I bet the Wonder loses hers this fall.

I have a picture the next day, but here is one I took on the bus on WDW when I was bored. LOL.

Moving on…..

We then came upon the eels and we stopped to look at them.

bah10 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Then all of a sudden they started swimming.

bah11 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I have never seen eels actually swim in real life. They usually just hang out and look out from their hiding spots. It was really cool…and creepy. Some would swim and others would stay still, then they would move. Really creepy!

Someone wondered if they were going to be fed since they were so active.

bah12 by Jenseib, on Flickr

These guys are just so creepy.

atlantis62 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis63 by Jenseib, on Flickr

After we had our fill of the eels we moved on again.

I actually remember a lot of the areas from my previous time here, which had to be about 13 years ago. In fact I had my picture right there on that same bench. Wish I was that skinny now.

atlantis68 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Moving on to see more fish.

Ellen noticed that if you looked up through this tank you could see the buildings and it was kind of cool.

atlantis79 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis80 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And I remember this spot as well from my previous trip.

atlantis81 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Skip is much skinnier here too.

atlantis6 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We finished up this area and surfaced.

atlantis82 by Jenseib, on Flickr

It was really a beautiful day.

Up next…..Let’s just pretend we didn’t see the sign…..

Those eels are seriously creepy. I have seen eels swim before. I think that may have been at Seaworld.

Corinna

Cool pics as always. I have had trips too where I rememeber being there and having pictures of a skinnier me!

I don't recall seeing those eels ...... well, I do not miss it either. They look creepy.

I think I'm the only one who likes the eels  I would have thought they ate those fish, but must not. I wonder what they eat.

Great pictures, I must go there at some point.

Fun to see the old pictures of you and Skip :)

Great pics at Atlantis :thumbsup2

I am so bummed that I didn't get to go, not only to the water slides but with you guys too but it was so freaking hot that day, I probably wouldn't have made it very far anyway :scared:

BUT all is good because I got to see the STRAW MARKET!!!!

That one shot you got of the eel with his mouth open is rather frightening

I probably would not have even remembered them much if it hadn't been for the fact that they went all creepy on us. LOL.

He was hungry I guess.

Ellen and I had both been to Atlantis once before, but I think the other 3 had never been. We wanted to take it all in and walk around and see as much as we could.

atlantis84 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah16 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We got a nice person to take a picture of all of us.

Brook, Patty, Lisa, Me, and Ellen.

bah17 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We moved on and took more pictures. See this smaller blue sign next to the bigger sign? It says we can’t go beyond that sign without the proper wristband…meaning we had to be a resort guest or someone who purchased one of the qualifying packages.

atlantis85 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Shoot! But no one was monitoring the area so we just casually walked through pretending not to notice the sign…I didn’t see it, did you?

atlantis86 by Jenseib, on Flickr

YES! We are in!

atlantis87 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis88 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah18 by Jenseib, on Flickr

The bridge suite. This thing is MEGA bucks! I can’t remember now, but I want to say $25,000 a night?

bah20 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah21 by Jenseib, on Flickr

At first we kind of thought we would be “caught” and kicked out of the area, but after a bit we forgot we were in the forbidden zone and just leisurely walked around.

atlantis89 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Pure beauty!!!

atlantis102 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis103 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis104 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We came upon the first waterslide. This was actually smaller than I thought it was…still big but smaller…if that makes sense.

atlantis105 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah22 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis106 by Jenseib, on Flickr

My oldest daughter Paige used to love the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen home videos and we had so many VHS’s of their adventures. One of their movies involved them going to Atlantis. I actually really liked the show because I loved seeing the resort and when Skip and I went on our honeymoon we took a NCL cruise and stopped in Nassau. We came to Atlantis then and toured the Dig back then. Before we left I watched that movie over and over to get myself in the Bahamas mood! (I think we still have it in storage somewhere…I should go look)

Up next….SHARKS!

Nice that you got a chance to explore in an area that is normally off limits. Looks like security is not as tight as it is in Dubai. I loved the photos.

Corinna

The flying fish fountain is so pretty. Glad you missed the sign and got to explore :)

$25,000 a night

I haven't thought of those Mary Kate and Ashley videos in eons!

Great photos, it is a beautiful resort.

Great report. We will be sailing the Magic March 2017, only been on the Dream. Looking forward to it

I think we just got lucky...maybe changing shift or something? After we walked out later (on accident) they were patrolling all spots pretty thoroughly.

Paige was obsessed with Mary Kate and Ashley. And we had to buy their clothing line at Walmart for her. LOL

Great report. We will be sailing the Magic March 2017, only been on the Dream. Looking forward to it

Those are the 2 I have been on, both are great ships!!!!

Your pictures are wonderful. It's looks like such a beautiful resort. I've only seen it from my balcony on the Dream.

After watching a few people come down the slide, we moved over around the side. There was a tank of sharks…..and the one waterslide went right through it…..though they were in a tube so no harm would come to them.

atlantis110 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis111 by Jenseib, on Flickr

The sharks didn’t seem to care that lunch was blasting pass them.

atlantis112 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I tried to get a shot of a person sliding through but the picture did not come out so I am not even going to bother sharing it.

I believe these are stairs leading to one of the slides.

atlantis113 by Jenseib, on Flickr

So we walked around some more and took in the sights. Brook started having a bad coughing fit. Brook was just getting over a killer case of bronchitis. She had been sick for over a month and finally went to the Dr.s before the trip and he scolded her for not coming in sooner….so she was on lots of meds to help her get well. Up until now, you really couldn’t tell she had been sick except that she would lose her voice every so often. I don’t know what triggered it but she could now barely breath because she was coughing so hard. I told her I would get her a drink. I ran over to one of the stands and asked for a coke and diet coke. I wasn’t sure what she liked and I figured I would drink whatever she didn’t drink. Thing to note…they do not take cash at any of these food stands. You have to charge it to your room or use a credit card. Thank goodness I had one with me.

I grabbed the drinks and gave Brook her choice and she downed it and felt better.

We walked a bit more and chatted.

bah24 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I think we find a bathroom and used it and continued looking over the grounds. I think we must have been in a deep conversation because I don’t have any pictures during this time.

We then were kind of feeling hungry. We had talked about eating lunch here but we decided we would have a snack now. A couple decided they would just go back to the ship for lunch and Ellen asked if I would go to a place that served great chowder with her. I am always ready to tackle some chowder.

A couple of the gals got a hot pretzel. Ellen got one and I was thinking on whether I wanted one or not and she said she would share it with me. It was pretty good. Not the best I have ever had, but I liked it. Patty did not like hers at all. I am not sure if she got a bad one or if she just didn’t like this particular style. I thought I had taken pictures of them, but I don’t see it in my album, so I guess I am hallucinating.

We found a spot to sit and enjoy our snacks.

bah25 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I walked off to the side for a bit and took this of the girls.

bah26 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We then moved on. Now we should have went the other way as there was a lot that way we did not look at yet, but for some reason we were programed to go this way first.

There were bridges all over the place we spotted a few we wanted to go over so we turned back to head towards one that looked to have some good views.

atlantis131 by Jenseib, on Flickr

That lady we passed stopped us and told us we didn’t have the proper band to go in that area. SHOOT! We had wandered out without even realizing it. Shoot shoot shoot. Well we enjoyed our rebelness while it lasted.

So new game plan…..where are we now?

atlantis132 by Jenseib, on Flickr

It was getting closer to noon and we had to meet up in Coral Towers lobby at 12:30 for our tour so we decided it was probably wise to start heading that way.

I tried to get a shot of a person sliding through but the picture did not come out so I am not even going to bother sharing it.

I have seen pictures of it and it looks awesome, but at the speed they slide by, I wonder how much of the sharks you really see?

That is one great shot, Jen!!

I love how you all wandered around on forbidden paths - I am very thankful you documented that so well!

I never get tired of seeing your photos, so please, whenever you're ready you may post more. ;) :rotfl2:
