Hello -
I am new to this board, so bear with me - I am getting very excited about our upcoming trip on March 30th -
We will be staying in Room 7631 - the handicapped room on Deck 7 - does anyone know anything about this? It is category 11 - I know it won't be the Ritz Carlton, but hey - I'm sure we won't be in our rooms much! It is at the very back of the boat - does that entail more rocking and motion? Is there any advantage to being at the front vs the back? Are there refridgerators in the Cat 11 rooms? We will be bringing a cooler for medication - I am traveling with my sister who has M.S. and my daughter who is almost 6 - so I can bring some drinks, but a fridge would be very convenient!

Thanks a bunch!

I can answer a couple of questions. First of all, I have been on 9 cruises (Wonder being one) and have always found the rooms at the rear of the ship smoother--less rocking. However, you will hear the hum of the engines a little more ( I did not find the Wonder too bad).

As far as the medication, you can call Disney cruise line and I bet they can handle your needs. The steward usually keeps fresh ice in the room all the time and I bet they would fill the cooler if you explain the situation. After all, they work for the tip. I would ask about bringing food or beverages on board.

Enjoy!

Hi, Carol.

I just returned from a cruise on the Wonder this February, and we were in Stateroom 7120. We didn't experience much movement. The Wonder is a really big ship, so you don't really feel much motion. This time of year isn't so bad - when we cruised in August of 2000, we were at the tail end of a hurricane, and we felt it.

To me, aft is the best location (aft being the rear of the boat), although you are further away from most of the entertainment venues (the shops and theaters).

Not the Ritz-Carlton, you say? Prepare to be impressed. We stayed at the Grand Floridian the night before our cruise, and I swear, our stateroom on the ship was bigger than our accomodations at the GF.

By the way, every Stateroom on the ship has a refrigerator. Your room steward will keep your ice bucket full as well, if you so choose. I'm not sure if they allow you to bring a cooler, though, but you won't need it with the fridge. You can bring your own beverages, though. And in Nassau, there is a reasonable grocery store near the Straw Market (on the side street perpendicular to Bay Street), where you can replenish your beverage supplies.

Enjoy your cruise. You will have the time of your life! After having been on both the 3-day and 4-day cruise, my DH and I feel that it's not enough time to enjoy the beautiful ship. Next time, we're taking the 7-day. Maybe they will do a 7-day DVC Member Cruise.

They don't have actually fridges in your room. They call them coolers. They look like a fridge on the outside, but they don't cool very well. I also second calling DCL to let them know ahead of time. They usually bend over backwards to help in this type of situation.

Please call DCL and have them fax you the medical form. This will not only alert the medical staff if needed but from what I have read here should also get a true refrigerator in the room for medications as needed.

If these need to be kept cool you probably don't want to rely on a simple cooler.

Sorry for the misinformation. It did look like a refrigerator, but come to think of it, it was called a cooler. It kept our beverages cold, but I guess they were cold to begin with.

I stand corrected.

I would have thought that when you booked a handicapped stateroom, they would have asked you if the person with whom you were traveling who has the disability would need any special services.

I would contact them immediately. Your trip will be here before you know it, and you don't want to wait until the last minute.
