Sailing Feb 17th - 20th!

We just got our airfare and car rental booked for our cruise! I went to book a Disney resort for the day we get off of the cruise and just about passed out! A value resort is $173, and a moderate is over $250! I guess it's because it's President's Day weekend? I'm a little nervous about how crowded the parks will be after the cruise! Anyone here gone during President's Day weekend before? Hope all is well----our cruise is getting closer!

Have you ever rented points from DVC members? I have done it many times, and often times you can get rooms for less $$$ then renting from Disney, and in higher level resorts! Just a thought. We are staying in AKL for less then $150 a night!

less than 150 per night for AKL thats amazing!

We just booked our resort today for before our cruise. We are staying at Ron Jons. Hope its nice the water park looks like fun.

Cant wait to set sail!;)

can't wait to sail I'm getting more and more excited about it, goingto be great, and heard some friends from crew will be on the Dream, so makes it better:goodvibes:goodvibes:cool1:

Can you tell me how to go about checking in to renting points? I've heard of doing it, but I've never checked in to it because I wasn't sure where to go on the internet or where to call to do it. Sounds like a great deal! I did notice that the price of the resorts is about normal until you reach Feb. 17th. From that date on, it's absurd! We are staying at the Radisson at the Port the night before the cruise, but we are planning to do WDW after the cruise, so we'd like to get something onsite. Thanks for your help!

If you check the Disney Vacation Club section of the Disboards there is a rent/trade thread where you can rent from individual owners, here prices per point vary. You can also check to see what properties are available.

There is also David's Vacation Club Rentals, this web site is good for gathering info about the amount of points you need for any time period and you can rent properties at $13.00 per point.

I've heard of people listing them on ebay and Craigslist but I guess I'm not that trusting to try this avenue.

I rented points for a few days this January from one of our tablemates on our last cruise, OKW for about $140.00 per night.

Disboards have a place where you can rent the points from DVC members.

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29

The amount the points sell for have a range, but average about $10-11 a point. If you want to know how many points you will need try this link:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-vacation-club/DVCpoints.shtml

Just choose your resort and make sure you are looking at the points for the right year, they are different or 2011. Then you contact someone who has points for rent. Many like to be PM and it's easier to deal with personal information that way anyways. (like name and addresses and such)

You can check out www.mousesavers.com for additonal information and tips and pointers for renting points. This site has a link where you can check the tax id information on the renter to make sure they are real owners. There has not been a reported problem with owners from the DISboards, but there are scams on ebay. I have rented a few different times and had wonderful experiences. The rooms are cleaner and bigger then normal Disney rooms (and in most cases less expensive as well). Also you can get the Transporation to and from the MCO airport and you can add park tickets and meal plans to your rooms as well (no discount for those items, but they can be added). Just talk to the owners, most of them are very helpful and easy to deal with!

It's the best way to stay in some of the greatest place in Disney, my kids love staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, we are staying there in Feb after the cruise so they can just enjoy the hotel!!

Thanks for all of the help! I checked out Dave's website today and am very interested in doing this! I can't believe how affordable it is to stay at some of the places we normally pay quite a bit of money for!

:goodvibesHappy Labor Day every one!:goodvibesI hope you all have a fun last day of summer! We are headed to a bbq this afternoon, then home to prepare for the first day of school.
I hope all the little ones have a great start back to school!

Im sorry I dont rember who is doing the FE list but how are we doing, do we have a few families? When is the deadline for every one to get in on it? Im excited to get working on my FE gifts!

Nettii:goodvibes

I have been keeping an informal list so far--I think we have 5 families signed up. I figure we'll still keep adding people to the list until a couple of weeks before the cruise--is that ok with everyone?

Less than 6 months to go! :cool1:

Getting lots of great info and stuff ready for the cruise! Sure wish I would have planned ahead and booked a B2B but hey there is always next time! I have already been thinking of stuff for my FE and I think I have figured out waht we are going to do! I am on a quest to find new luggage by then, something bigger and I need to make sure my DSs have enough clothing for warm weather and I think I will be ready to go! Can't wait and my kids are the same way, my yougest is always asking to watch the video on the disney cruise site, I love that they are as excited as I am!

JC Penny's is having luggage on sale this weekend. I looked at it yesterday and it was very nice.
We are wishing we had done a b2b too:sad2:but like you said maybe next time.
Marla we are doing good. Kids are back to school, fall is in the air and im counting down the days till our cruise! LOL:goodvibes

I don't have to wish I was doing a b2b, since I will be glad this 3 night is before the 4 night, so I can have a sea day the last day:cool1:. Can't wait to meet everyone.
Dad and I are going to Las Vegas today till Wednesday for a convention, never been there so should be cool to see, not as cool as the Dream will be, after Las Vegas I can start counting down to my WDW trip in October:cool1:, then a trip in January then finally countdown for this cruise and one after this is there:goodvibes:cool1::thumbsup2

Hey, hope everyone is doing well. I am in Las Vegas for a hardware convention and my dad is doing work so I decided I'd come on here and post from my Droid. Hope everyone is doing well. Being away from home makes me want to go on a cruise even sooner lol, looking forward to this cruise. Hope you are all doing good.

Hello, everyone! We're starting to get excited for this cruise!:thumbsup2 We got our air booked to get us to Orlando (still waiting for fares to drop for the return flight), we booked a pre-cruise stay at Ron Jon Resort, and we have all of our transportation booked. The only things we're waiting on is air to drop for our return flight to Kansas City and for some kind of special to come out for room rates at WDW after the cruise. We did look in to renting points from DVC members, but we have so many people going that it just seemed a bit overwhelming to try to get it booked for everyone. I'm hoping that the room rates at WDW will come down and that there will be a promotion or something. Right now, they are ridiculously priced. But, we want to take advantage of EMH's, so we'll be booking regardless.

I'm sure ready for a vacation! Is it February yet?:) I also need to be doing some research on our Alaskan cruise with Disney--can't wait to do that one! Have a good weekend!

We r going to be at Ron Jons too! I am very excited to stay there. My boys dont know we will be staying at the Ron Jons resort. We are taking them to the store also. They took surf lessons from the guys at Ron Jons at TL last year and now think Ron Jons is the coolest! So this will be a fun surprise. :goodvibes

We will be joining you also. 7 of us, me, DH, sons 9 & 6, Mom, Dad and Brother.

Hoping for warm weather this coming Feb. Last year wasn't so hot.
