Sail away party

Having only been on one cruise, no but I may next time. I have friends who skip it.

We don't bother to go. Too crowded. We'd rather just relax on the Verandah and wave at people on shore.

It is fun to us, but my son does get overstimulated, as we learned too late on our first cruise, and ended up with a sensory meltdown. Now ewe immediately go to the deck above the action and find a place to watch from afar. He loves it for a while, but as soon as we sail away and hear the horn, we head back to the room before the mass exit, to calm down and get ready for dinner. It's just the horn and initial sailing away that we like, anyway. If it's your first time, though, I'd at least try it out!

We saw part of it last cruise...it was so crazy on the deck we headed to the cl instead...I am just wondering it anyone else finds it too much?

We usually go to the Deck above and watch from there. Not as crowded. Love listening to the music and, best of all, hearing the horn. Then we go to a less crowded area and wave to everyone on shore as we sail by.

we skirt around the outside of the crowds so as to avoid the masses but definitely go. thats the real kick off imo. its when vacation starts.

I skip it on the Dream and Fantasy but I always go on the Magic and Wonder. Their version, Adventures Away, is so much better, IMO, and I wouldn't miss it.

Agreed! I love the sail away on the magic! It's basically a super fun dance party with a catchy sailing away song! To me the one on the fantasy was like a giant ad. I've watched it on YouTube a bit lately, and the show on the fantasy isn't bad but it's not particularly fun.

I don't like it at all... its sooooo crowded and the show isn't entertaining I tried to watch it once and had to leave after a few minutes I defiantly won't try to watch it again...

We never miss it. That is when we turn off all phones and computers and they will not come on till we get back in Port.

We were on the Wonder for our first cruise ever on 4/23 and went to the Sail Away Party for a few minutes. Then went up to Deck 10 at the front of the ship to watch it leave the harbor. If you have younger children it looked like fun.

We watch it from the top deck and then retreat half way through and go to our verandah. This will be our first cruise without a verandah next March. We might skip it though but plan to wave goodbye to everyone. I think that part is kind of fun. I really didn't care for the show once they updated it.

We did it our first 2 cruises back in 2001 & 2002, it was way to crowded, our 2 DDs did not enjoy it at all. Our last 10 cruises we just go up the top deck & watch the as the ship heads to sea. Sometimes we get lucky & spot a dolphin or 2.

We watched about 1/2 from the top deck and then went back to the room. What I do remember is my eyes welling up with tears. It was our first Disney Cruise and I had planned so long and looked so forward to it, the emotions were almost too much......and I am not a super big Disney person. HA

Went on our first cruise and have skipped it every time since...but we don't have little kids.

Yup. I prefer to hang on my veranda and wave. People on shore love to watch the ships sail away.
