Had to go one last time before they shut the doors on all the clubs I love so well. My boyfriend (who lives in Royal Palm Beach) drove up for the holiday weekend. Went to Universal Saturday and also saw The Blue Man Group (great show!). Went to PI Sunday night (boyfriend had never gone even though he lived in Orlando years ago). Fun, fun night! Comedy club was packed for the 10:30 show, Adventurer's Club was packed (saw the Maid's show - which is fun, but sad I missed Samantha's cabaret show). 8-traxx was busy as was Manniquines (sp?). Funny thing was that when we were walking into Manniquines a group of people walked out complaining that it was a "gay" club! Alright I thought, let's dance! Turned out it was one couple of guys dancing (we made it two). As we left around 1:30 boyfriend remarked "this place was great, how can they be closing it?". My thoughts exactly!

Sounds like a good time. We strolled through PI, this weekend but didn't do any clubs. It was jammed.

There was live entertainment at the West Side too. Never saw that before.

Funny you should mention the gay comment. We had a rather unusual (for WDW) albeit brief negative reaction from a woman. We were walking along, and I just casually put my arm across my DPs shoulders. (I do that for balance, but hey I'm not explaining myself to anyone, ya' know). There was a woman and a man there, apparently together and she looked like she wanted to physically push me away. Kinda scary, but we just kept walking.

There have been some comments among a few people that we know that hint that WDW is getting rid of the clubs because they "draw gay people" to them and have become known as "gay places" instead of all inclusive.

Don't much listen to that sort of stuff, but does make you wonder.

At any rate, good that you had a nice time!

Well there goes Epcot and Cirque du Soliel (aka Cirque du So Gay).

Any rumors that they are trying to get rid of the gay crowd is ludicrous. One of the main guys behind Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid was gay. He had HIV and Eisner moved the entire production team to New York because the guy was too sick to travel. They gave nothing but 110% support to him. This is coming in the early 90s when it was much more taboo than it is now. The corporate structure of Disney has been supportive of gay people much longer than the public realizes.

The reality is they don't want to pay to operate the clubs anymore. They'd rather outsource, and that's what it boils down to.

btw my source on above info is from Disney War

Oh, you don't have to convince me. I'm well aware (and quite thankful!) for Disney's very accepting stance on our community.

I'm just sharing what I've heard others say, or comment upon. Things can easily get twisted, especially when there are others who would like to twist things for their own gain (or to further their own agenda).

EPCOT's GAY!!! :scared1: Holy macaroni!!! When were ya'll gonna tell ME? :lmao: :rotfl2:

Well Epcot will be gay weekend of 10/24-10/26 when Expose plays! I'm sure many of us will go just to see them (not to mention it's Food and Wine Festival as well)!:cool1:

oh I know, but now you have something to fire back with if you weren't aware of the deep history of acceptance the company has. I know I wasn't and despite my general hatred of Eisner, I have to tip my hat to his acceptance going back to the late 80s and early 90s

I know what you mean about Eisner. Hard to admit he did some good things, isn't it?

YEP! Expose will be a weekend to have some serious fun! Love the FWF, and adding Expose is just too perfect!
