Has anyone ever walked into San Angel Inn without an ADR just for drinks/snack mid-afternoon (say around 3pm)? We love the atmosphere but not so much the main entrees.

Try La Cava del Tequila in the Mexico pavilion. It is a bar with some tables, and they serve a number of the same appetizers that are served in the restaurant plus a few that are not on the restaurant menu.

I saw reviews of that here on the boards. Do you think it would be ok to take teens in there? Could they order virgin margarhitas or something?

They do have a non-alcoholic specialty beverage available on the menu. Not sure about soft drinks. Ask the bartender about virgin drinks - they could probably put something together.
