Sagamore

Anyone been to the Sagamore Resort in Lake George, NY? I have my wife and 7 year old DD. Any opinions would be helpful. I would be going in the summer. Which room, Lakeview or Lodge Suite? Thanks!

I have vacationed there. It is a upscale resort that is on the Preferred Hotels & Resorts List. I stayed in a Lodge Suite that faced the lake, most of the lodges face the lake. I would put it at par with a DVC one bedroom, they have 2 bedrooms suites also. I must say that the place allows children but does restrict them from a couple of areas, like the main dinning room and the "Veranda" but there are plenty of places for your family to eat there. They have a beach right on the lake plus an indoor pool. It is near a lot of the action up there but driving in the summer can take some time.

You will love it in the summer. Just remember that from the end of July to Labor Day weekend is the Saratoga Racing Season so if you can get a reservation, you may want to visit the track for a day.

We took our family there for Thanksgiving for about four years in a row up until last year. They are great with kids. There is a ton for kids to do. Everything from a rock wall in a gym to miniature golf on site. They schedule horseback riding trips and boat trips on the lake. The food is outstanding but pricey. We have stayed in the Lodge Suites and in the main hotel building. We always liked the main building the best but that was in the cold weather so we didn't have to go outside to get to the pool or the restaurants (which are in the main building).
