Safety question ?

Dang, they certainly have a thing for German Shepard canine units. I want to see a K9 chiwawa or miniature poodle. :)

I can see where that might be an option some places to leave the gun at work.
What about the K9 dog? If the handler doesn't want to take care of the dog at night, do folks at the station volunteer to take over the responsibility?

Not a cop, not married to a cop, so this is only my experience and word of mouth. My co-worker is married to a cop. They have small children, she and her husband are more comfortable leaving the gun locked up at work. His department offers that option.

I have met 1 K-9 officer in my life. He's the friend of a friend. He went through a long training program with his new K-9 partner, and his partner is with him 24-7. Supposedly, when he retires, so does the dog. If the dog retires before him, it becomes his pet.

I never found it strange potato chip flavor because as a kid, if there was already ketchup on my plate, I'd always dip my potato chips in it.

Made as much sense as dipping a french fry in it.

Still way off topic, but for those genuinely curious, these are other Lay's Potato Chip flavors from around the World:

Cherry Tomato
American Filet Mignon
Smokey Bacon
Numb & Spicy Hot Pot
Salmon Teriyaki
Crab Spice
French Chicken
Roast Chicken
Mexican Tomato Chicken
Hot Chili Squid
Prawn Cocktail
Lemon Tea
Wasabi
Italian Red Meat
Lychee
Kyushu Seaweed
Mango
Roasted Red Chili with Coriander
French Fries & Gravy
Blueberry
Magic Masala
Hot & Sour Fish Soup
Mint Mischief
Cucumber
Garlic Softshell Crab

That is one interesting list.

LOL I was picturing a chip made by squirting ketchup on a baking pan and baking it. I guess my brain isn't working because I didn't even consider it was a potato chip flavor. I don't know who would want to eat either but what do I know I like salt and vinegar chips.

Have you ever gotten a bit of ketchup on your plain Lays potato chips? That's about what ketchup chips taste like, to me anyways! Salt and Vinegar kettle chips are my absolute FAVORITE! :)

Hey @bsblady01 which one of these is your husbands partner?

I love canine units!

Canine JD looks extremely angry in his photo. :)
There are only 9 dogs in Troop F (Avery, Blair, DJ, JC, Jaki, Jed, Kurdys, Sam, Wink), so it has to be one of them.

Gorgeous dogs. My 4-H dog leader when I was a kid, raised and trained GSDs for police work. She would often give us demonstrations of how they work, complete with the padded guy. I was and still am in awe of these dogs.

I love that each dog is named to honor a fallen officer. Sad that there are enough officers to supply names.

Did you put an order in with @kimblebee ? She's bringing all sorts of treats...I'm getting kinder eggs, but I think some have put an order in for hockey players.:-)
She's promised crisps, chocolates, hockey equipment, and...I almost forgot, a moose.

@kimblebee must be busy today collecting all of our, er, "provisions" (we are a rather high maintenance bunch).

What I really want to know out of all of this is, what are kinder eggs?

Are you sure that's where her husband works? https://www.troopers.ny.gov/Specialized_Services/Canine_Unit/

The "new method" of training dictated that the canines be sociable, allowed to be in and around the general public, and reside in the handlers residence. Most canines up to this point were extremely aggressive and kenneled when not in use. This method, is still one of the most prevalent training methods in the United States.

I thought she said her husband's dog doesn't live with them.
the OP says he is part of Troop F canine unit

Yeah, I noticed the tribute label and felt the same as you. Impressive group of dogs for sure.

Chocolate egg with a toy surprise in middle.

Banned here because of potential choking hazard. Idk how you could choke on that yellow plastic egg inside but I'm sure someone here could, and then sue.

Not yet but I'd be happy with anything chocolate, except chocolate covered ketchup chips LOL

The dog does not live with us since we have a dog of our own and they did not get along
I am surprised that your husband's partner does not take precedence over the family pet. As I mentioned before, that is very atypical. The K-9 team typically stays together 24/7 to keep the bond between the two unbreakable.
