Safety of printer ink?

I've been scrapping for about a year and so far the pages I've done are very basic. I'd like to get a little more creative using computer fonts for my titles and journaling, but I'm wondering about the safety of printer ink. Does anyone know if it is acid-free? Does it depend on what type of printer you use? (I have an EPSON ink-jet, but have access to a color laser as well.) Any advice??

I'm sorry, but I don't really know tha answer to your questions, but I do know that LOTS of people use their computer and printers for lettering. I have software that creates entire pages that I put pictures from my computer on and then I print out the whole completed page. I'd hate to think that they would not be archival and safe. I just recently bought The Art Of Creative Lettering CD, and I'm having so much fun with it!!

I;ve read this question lots of times, and I've never seen a brilliant answer - but basically they usually say something like printer ink is used for legal documents, so therefore it has to be very long lasting, not sure about the acid-free aspect, but I use mine with acid-free paper or cardstock and I don't worry about it.

Same here, heard that it's very long lasting but not a hundred percent sure it's acid free. The thing is, it it's not directly touching your photo there's a really good chance that it won't hurt your picture even it it has small amounts of acid in it. I have found I'm willing to take the risk and I use it in my albums.
