Safety at DTD?

I heard that DTD has quite a few gang problems with purse snatchings etc. Is that true and does it affect safety at the hotels there?

There was some gang activity in 2007 that was attributed to the closing of Pleasure Island (but never proven) and since then I've not saw anything on the boards to suggest that the gang culture is back (may be wrong). However we've stayed at Saratoga Springs for about 7 years and not experienced anything and if you're worried the DTD area is pretty well guarded by security and Sheriff department.

I have not hread anything about gang problems and I would think it would be big news in the press if there was!, but like everywhere today is pays to be carefull!

hope not but you know disney keeps everything quiet if there a problem.
just keep your valuables out of site and in a safe spot no matter where you go.

Yes as previous poster stated it was a problem before they shut down the nightlife in Pleasure Island. Have heard nothing of gangs since- a small group once again ruins it for most.
