I am taking a group of Girl Scouts to Coco Key this weekend. I am responsible for all of them and am now starting to regret my decision to go because of the safety aspect! Do they have any system like Nick hotel where the kids can't leave without an adult? How do they know if they are with the right adult?

Are there lots of life guards? We live in Florida, all of my girls are good swimmers, but now that I am in charge I'm worried!

Thanks for any advice.

I can't answer your question about Coco Key, but I assume you have a parental authorization for each child giving you the authority to make emergency medical decisions for the girls while they're with you. If you don't, you really need that and the Girl Scouts probably have a standard form.

If you have those authorizations, take them with you everywhere you go.

EMS cannot treat a kid without partental authorization unless it's a life-threatening situation. If the kid's in bad shape, they won't hesitate for a second, but the problem comes in where the kid needs timely medical treatment (broken arm, for example) and EMS can't get in touch with the parent.

I found there to be plenty of lifeguards. There was no safety system from preventing children to leave without a parent that I recall, however, there is only one exit to leave the water park area.. Maybe you can stay in that area to make sure that no child leaves the park..
