Are there safes in the DVC resort rooms?

yes - in the closets.

I believe they are in the closet of each bedroom. I guess I never checked the second bedroom of the dedicateds to see if there is a safe there as well, but I would assume there is.

That's a relief. We always use the safe in our room, but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in DVC literature.

One visit, I stuck some extra credit cards and small jewelry in the safe and promptly lost the key. We had a fun delay checking out as maintenance sent a workman up to drill out the lock, followed by a delightful $50 charge on our bill. So be thoughtful about using the safe.

Does that mean there are no other keys to your safe than the one they give you? I'm asking because I've always wondered if the safes were really safe.

Almost all of the DVC rooms have a safe. But I got stuck in a HC room (BWV studio #4070) that had no closet and no safe. I was very surprised because I thought that each and every DVC room would have a safe.

As far as I can tell it's one key per lock. When the key is lost, the lock is destroyed.

Well, I've stayed in studios at BWV, BCV, and SSR. All have had a safe except for that one HC studio I mentioned previously. Not sure about OKW, since I stayed in a 1BR on my only stay there.

Well now I won't be afraid to use it. I know , I admit that I have issues, but I
always figured if someone else had a key to the safe that would be the first place they'd look!

Used to be the OKW studios did not have closet safes. I believe they installed them in all the studios during a renovation awhile back.
