About how big are the safes at POP? Dimensions would be nice. I am sure they are not very big. What can I do with my laptop? Do you think it is safe to bring and leave in the room?

I'd also like to know about safes at Pop. Are they big enough to fit a camcorder?

The safes are not large enough to fit a laptop or the average camcorder. (A smaller digital camcorder *might* fit, but barely).

Lock it into a suitcase. As an FYI, we have never locked up our laptops, but we don't leave them in plain sight either.

That said, in light of the recent reports of stolen property at Pop, I'd lock it up.

I never had to use them, but I believe the CR has boxes behind the front desk. Perhaps POP has the same?

They have a managers safe, but there's no way I'd want to wait in line every time I wanted to use my laptop or camcorder!

For sure. I was thinking more for the laptop.

DH and I stayed at Pop last year and the safe was large enough for are laptop dh's wallet and about 10 tip envelopes, so it all depends on the type of laptop you have(we have an Ibook)

Here is a pic of are 14inch ibook in the safe at Pop

I think it depends on where you stay, we just got back from POR and they safe in our room was not that big at all. I fit a portable DVD player about 9 inchs long a couple of wallets, several tip envelopes, and a envelope with meal vouchers, and unless it was a paper thin item, not much more was able to fit.

just go to your local best buy or comp usa and buy a lap top locking cable. Think chain lock for you lap top.

It allows you to lock you laptop to a desk or dresser with a lock and key...simular to the old bike locks we used as kids.

It is by no means 100% fool proof, but for $10, it will help.

I usually just lock my laptop to a table and then put it in my breif case next to the wall. Been in countless hotels this way and never had an issue.

janet2k, your photos cracked me up. The safes are so slim appearing, and the door so large appearing, that it looks like if you closed the door, there wouldn't be room for anything other than airline tickets! LOL (OK, if they even used those anymore) I'm used to the more square safes at the Poly.

Then I noticed the caption said the safe was in the vanity area of the room. Sure looks like the closet to me! ;)

No seriously, thanks for the great pictures, it was just kind of funny. I guess I am feeling kind of punchy today.

Yes, that is my Ibook above in the picture, the ibook is only 1" thick, so it depends on your laptop, Apple laptops are thinner than most PC ones. thus, your mileage may vary. I have heard the pop has the biggest safes of any of the resorts.

Okay as a past housekeeper the last places a housekeeper would encounteron a routine cleaning would be a) under the bed or b) behind the bed. Those are you best bets for hiding your things in a safe, dry area.

If you bring electronics always hide them. We had things stolen (clothes mainly) from our room at the GF and truthfully after that we have never trusted anything left out in our room to be back there at the end of the day. Just hide your stuff and you should be good.

Now, in order to bring my post back around again to the topic at hand, here is another photo of the area where the in-room wall safe is located at Pop Century: click here. If you look closely at the mirror in that photo, you will see a reflection of the safe.
