My trip is rapidly approaching and the closer it gets the more nervous I get about where to stay. I just booked Paradise Pier at a RIDICULOUS price (so high 1,750 for 4 nights -theme park view is all that was left!!) and also have off site at grand Legacy for 818.00. I am nervous about being alone and walking alone at night. I am not familiar with Disneyland at all so I need advice from those that have been there. I am aware of there not being busses lke at WDW and there will be some walking. Does Paradise Pier connect to the parks or am I having to cross strrets at night and walk just as I would staying on Harbor Blvd? IS the walk the same from both places to the park? I inquired about the ART shuttle and it does not stop at my hotel. Please any advice you can offer is so appreciated.

The Grand Legacy is probably just about as far as Paradise Pier, only in the opposite direction. There will be hundreds of people walking back at night, so no need to worry! PPH you can walk through the Grand to get to, but you still need to cross one street. Grand Legacy you cross one street, go right and it's just a bit down the street. For the price difference, I would stay at Grand Legacy with no hesitation whatsoever!

Hello!

I am also taking a solo trip in late August. I am not from SoCal, so I'm not 100% clear on the layout. But from the maps on the app and website, PP is to the left of DTD and GCH. It looks like you would need to cross one street, but it's right next to the parks and DTD. If you're leaving the parks in the evening, you'd have to walk through DTD to get to PP, which there will be a lot of people there since it is open until 2:00 AM. The area is well lit and from what I've read on the boards and heard on the podcasts, hundreds of people will still be around so I know that makes me feel more comfortable about travelling solo.

As a 47 yo female I would not hesitate to walk back alone. You really aren't alone, as there will be throngs of people going in the same direction. Alternatively you could pick a hotel directly across from the entrance, e.g. Park Vue Inn. I'm sure it will still be cheaper than Paradise Pier.

So Kirbie you would stay onsite? I can swing the money and try not to think about it being double the price. I am just really nervous about walking alone at night. I woud be fine walking through DTD alone because I know it will be crowded. I am more nervous about traveling down Harbor Blvd. by myself at night.

I looked at the ones directly across and they are all booked :( Tropicana, Park Vue and Best Western.

Due to prices, no I can't afford to stay on site. :( I'm staying at an Airbnb, and I'll be taking Uber to and from the parks since it's just a bit too far away to walk (especially late at night, alone). The Airbnb I'm staying at is also a single woman, so I feel more comfortable with that.

Prior to booking Airbnb, I was looking at Best Westerns that are on the same street as PP. There were some other hotels near the SW corner of the park, and some of them had ART stops in front of the hotels as well.

That is a bummer. Keep checking, as people may cancel closer to the date.

Personally I'd just pick a nice looking family to follow and walk "with" them. You could take a taxi every night and still come out ahead.

I've traveled solo a couple of times and stayed at Candy Cane Inn which I believe is right across the street from Grand Legacy near the Harbor/Katella intersection. I never felt unsafe walking at night. There are lots of people walking up and down Harbor throughout the day and night. CCI has their own shuttle that comes every 30 minutes to the parks so if you are concerned about safety that might be an option to look into. I've stayed at the Grand Legacy when it was Ramada Maingate and had a very good stay with a nice refurbished room.

I have been on four solo trips in the past few years. I have stayed at the Tropicana, Anabella and DLH. I would not hesitate to stay at the Grand Legacy. In fact, I am going solo next week and staying at the Del Sol. Both hotels are just a block down from the crosswalk on Harbor. As others have said, there will be hundreds of other people walking back at night, especially on Harbor. I would not stay at the Anabella again because I found myself walking practically alone up Disneyland Dr. up to Katella. Even though I was walking along Disney property, I did not feel super confident. For PP, as others have said, you do need to cross the street from the corner of the Grand over to PP. There will be a lot of other people heading that way as well. I would save the money and stay at Grand Legacy.

Honestly it is very safe to walk to and from the hotels me & DD have done it many times and feel completely comfortable and safe. If you are really uncomfortable maybe call Uber or a taxi to drive you. It would be a lot less expensive than the cost at a Disney resort hotel.

That's a pretty short walk, and I've never felt unsafe at night. There may be a few things that are unpleasant such as the homeless, but I've never found anything that screamed unsafe. At least you're not going to need to walk past the 7-11. That can get interesting because late night beer runs.

Have no fear, Mynamewastaken! I'm a female booked for a solo stay at the end of this month at the Grand Legacy and it's a great location! I also stayed there solo a couple years ago when it was the Ramada and I never felt unsafe. Very close to the entrance and lots of people around whenever I was out walking. I can't wait to go back to see the remodel and the new rooftop lounge.

I've also stayed solo at WDW and it's a totally different thing. There I'd pick an onsite hotel if I had the choice.

From what I've researched, there's cabs and Ubers readily available on the Esplanade exit. If you use Uber the waiting cars actually pop up on the map. I looked the other day near closing time and saw some waiting near DTD as well. I've never used Lyft so I'm not sure if they have the same feature on their app.

I'm a big BABY and that would be one of the reasons I would stay with the PP --- I would be scared to walk that far alone. The security guards are always right there between the PP and the DLH, but again, I'm a big chicken :)

It depends on how comfortable you are with city life. There will be people walking around that aren't perfectly clean and pristine. But, I've always felt safe at night. I've walked alone from DL to Stovall's, Fairfield, HOJO, and all the onsite hotels. Obviously onsite feels pretty safe, but for the price, it's not worth it. I find the walk along Harbor to be more comfortable and safe to me than the hotels on Katella despite being on city streets. There are a lot more people around, so less chance of being jumped in an alley. I actually don't like walking to Stovall's because getting to Katella, as someone else said, you have to walk through a relatively unpopular area and with all the bushes and curves, despite being on Disney property, it's kind of creepy. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Legacy or anywhere else in that block of Harbor right across the street from DL.

Paradise Pier is actually a longer walk than to the Grand Legacy (formerly Ramada Maingate) I am a solo older female have stayed at Grand Legacy many times and PP only once for that very reason. There are always many people coming and going from the park at any given time and I have not felt unsafe ever! Save your money and your feet and stay at the Grand Legacy.

I'm a yearly solo traveler to DL and I mostly stay off-site...the Grand Legacy is LITERALLY across the street from DL...you are next to a Denny's, IHOP and McDonalds...at anytime, there will be many people walking up and down Harbor Blvd going to their hotels and places to eat...you should be safe with no problems...just cross the street at the main crosswalk with everyone else at park closing...and its a much shorter walk to Grand Legacy than it is to PP...save the money and stay off-site...
