Safe town to stop at the end of SC beginning of GA

We will be driving to FL and leaving NY at about 3:00 a.m. on Friday March 26th. We normally stop in Florence, but want to get further. Found a Quality Inn in Hardeeville, SC that also takes pets and has a hot breakfast. Does anyone know if this is a safe place to stop???

Also, if anyone has any hint or tips for the drive down I-95 to avoid traffic that would be great!!!
