We are looking at a short WDW trip at the beginning of August for our anniversary. Is is "safe" to buy NWA tickets now??? Did all sides vote and reach a solid agreement or do I still need to be cautious??? THANKS!

I don't know about "safe", but I do know this. NW just tacked on $10 on all their fares recently. annoying.

We've gone to Fl several times in August. I think rates will go down for you if you wait.

herc.

Even though I never do travel insurance for non-cruise vacation, I take my cue from travel insurance underwriters. If those industry experts are willing to ensure trips on a specific airline, then I'll feel safe buying tickets on that airline. If they won't insure trips on that airline, then I won't feel safe. I check this on www.insuremytrip.com. If you go into the specifics of the policies offered, it'll list the airlines that the insurers are willing to underwrite insurance for, at this time.

My "opinion" is that yes I think you'll be fine with shopping for a NWA ticket. Worst case senario would be you'd have to request a refund from your credit card company if in fact there were problems (assuming you're using a CC). Or hope other carriers would let you transfer the ticket.

That being said I did not "purchase" my NWA tickets for our Oct. trip, but I did use my airmiles!

I am also flying to Ireland in September and have been checking prices. Tickets through NWA have not come down or changed so I will ....A) Wait until closer to my departure day to shop for discounted fares through NWA or B) If it's a big price difference, go with another carrier and unfortunately not acquire some big airmiles.

If you do purchase NWA tickets and add on trip insurance make sure you can indeed benefit from that insurance if NWA is "no longer"! In other words read the fine print!

I'm not sure if you are WorldPerks FF miles members but......I called them a few weeks ago with the question about what happens to all my accumulated miles if NWA ceases to exist. They honestly had no answer to my question, they had no idea......but pretty much hinted "if there is no NWA there will be no more NWA FF miles". Interesting that they were so clueless as if I'd be the only customer concerned? :confused3

Good luck whatever you decide, and hope this helped.

Have a great day! Still cloudy in MN! (Although I do admit the sun did make a few rare appearances this week-end!! :sunny: )

Rates went up slightly on a few airlines this weekend...the $5 fuel thing I beleive. NWA is $281 direct, arrive early, depart late for our dates in Aug. Sun Country will be slightly cheaper if we use our 10% off vouchers, but the departure time is four hours earlier. Do you think they will really go down??? SC hasn't budged in the last couple months and I haven't watched NWA very closely just due to the fact of all the strike stuff prior to tge agreement. Then there's Airtran for $228, but the direct flight leaves later and the return flights are do-able layovers, but again, leave like 1-2 in the afternoon.
