Safari Celebration pregnant

I just found that I am pregnant. It was slightly unexpected. We had been trying for a while for child #2 (my first is 8 years old but just trying in the last two years). We have this huge trip planned with all extended family. I have been to Disney four other times so I plan on playing it safe with most rides. However, we do have a safari celebration planned and I don't want to miss out on it. Do you think that it is safe to still do this. My rational is that I drive on PA roads all the time with the potholes and stuff so the safari ride can't be worse than that.

I would ask your doctor. it may depend on how far along you are at the time. Personally though, I wouldn't do it. If anything happened, I would never forgive myself.

I just got back from a trip while I was 12 weeks pregnant. I observed all of the ride restrictions EXCEPT the safari. I had been on it several times and it really isn't that bumpy at all. It's supposed to be the worst after heavy rainfall, and I've been after rain, too. I completely agree with being cautious and didn't even go on other stuff that seemed perfectly safe to me, but I honestly don't see how the safari ride can possibly do any damage. The only negative is that all the light bouncing might bother your morning sickness if you're having it. They let infants on the ride, even...

I agree - ask your dr. I also think it depends on how far along you are. I was 8 wks pg and rode it no problems (but did observe every other ride restriction on that trip). You'll probably get a lot of people who say this. Notice my ds is also a former preemie, born 11.5wks too early. If my going on a ride had caused his prematurity I don't think I ever would have gotten over that. If you do decide to ride, the front of the vehicle is less bouncy.

Have you been on the regular safari before? It's pretty jerky and it's a long ride. I personally would not do it - I think it would have made me feel queasy early in the pregnancy and would have been uncomfortable later.

I agree 100% with asking your doctor. But I did go at 32 weeks and I did ride the Safari. I just asked for the front seat (which they were happy to accommodate) and I had no problems. My doctor did give me an okay for Splash, BTMRR, SM, etc too (No RNRC, MS or TOT was about it - I don't remember exactly) so I was confident that riding the Safari was okay. I had done it before and I was comfortable with it. It was the only thing I rode with a restriction though. How far along will you be?

Glad I found this thread since we're TTC #3 right now and are going to WDW with the kids in Oct. I was hoping I"d be able to ride the safari with my kids!

I just wanted to say that I just got back and rode it at 32 weeks pregnant with #3. My doctor had given me the ok to do anything that my kids could do (dd 3yo and ds 1yo). I sat halfway back in the vehicle and did not have any problems. It wasn't too bumpy, for me anyway. I have to go on a road that is much worse than that to get to the inlaws house. This was the only ride that I chose to disregard the warning signs on though. Good luck with your decision.

I went two years ago when about 16 weeks pg with DD. Like other posters, this was the only ride I ignored the restriction on. I too- sat near the front and was just fine. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions- mine was OK with it if I was...

I have no advice on whether to do the safari ride or not, but I just wanted to say that you can still have a great time even if you choose to/need to skip the safari. We just did the Safari Celebration dinner last month. The safari is only part of the experience. The dinner, entertainment, characters, live animals, etc. are wonderful and well worth experiencing, even if the safari doesn't work out for you. Good luck!

I asked my midwife and she said it would be fine. She has been on the ride a couple of times before. I have no morning sickness or anything like that. I will be about 15 weeks at the time.

My wife was pregnant 2 years ago. She would not go on the ride. I found it to be one of the bumpiest rides, and would reccomend against it. Whether you "could" or shouldn't, there is always a risk.

Given that, it was hilarious how many people I saw bring their newborns on the rider in babyseats...

I went in January and was almost 4 months. I rode the Safari and didn't find anything wrong with it. It's no more bumpy than the trip to my parents' house on gravel roads!! :rotfl: We managed to get a seat near the front, which I have heard minimizes the bumps, but still, a seat near the back isn't that bad!

Have fun and enjoy it!
