Safari at sunset, or after dark?

Which evening experience is better? Kilimanjaro Safari at sunset or after dark?

It’s harder to see some of the animals in the dark, however some are very active in the night. I’d go with sunset if you are making a FP then I’d ride again after dark (we’ve never encountered lines at safari after dark, it’s a walk on).

Thanks! My FP time for next week includes the times of sunset and dark. Never thought of doing both.

We want after dark and while we are glad we did it will probably not be something we do again. It was very difficult to see anything so we were not sure if most of the animals were more active or not!! We would do it if we were in the park and we were just looking for something to do, but it will not be a planned activity.

Sunset. Going while it's dark is cool because it's different but you can't see much of anything. It's like going on a haunted hay ride

Yeah my experience with KS after dark was disappointing to say the least.

We went just before sunset and it was glorious. The light was so warm and golden and the animals were so active, much more so than they had been that morning. I loved seeing them that way! It wasn't exactly sunset yet but it was close. I'd definitely plan to go at that time of day again on my next trip.

Sunset. We were there a week ago. We got on line at sunset and by the time we actually got on the ride it was already a little too dark to really see the animals. But we did see most of them. I wouldn't go too late unless I did both sunset and dusk. The lions were very active which was amazing. They were up and were "roaring." The male and females were there. It was so cool!

Their roar sounds more like they are trying to roar. The guide told us that the lion's roar used for MGM is actually a tiger because lion's don't have that kind of roar. Then they said a lion's roar can be heard up to five miles away... Sounds contradictory to me but that's what they said.

I've been on the Safari ride lots of times but never at sunset or dusk. We rode Nov 5th and
we saw plenty of animals. We even saw 3 lions which we had never seen awake all at the
same time It was fun.

Sunset is best. We've been a handful of times and the lions are usually active, which is a rare treat. We've also gone in the dark and while certainly an experience, hardly anything was visible except the giraffes that were stood near the lights at the back of their enclosure.
