Saddle Shoes? Did you ever have a pair?

Saddle shoes? No way. My mom wanted me to get them for school one year bit I refused to look like Bert from Sesame Street.

However, I did have blue platform sandals (yes, I was a child of the 70's), rainbow striped toe socks, a satin jacket, and a lovely sweater with Bugs Bunny knitted on the front. Oh yeah, I was a fashion plate. :rotfl:

I cheered for 10 years, so I had quite a few pairs. Now, I still have a pair of leather pants in my closet from the store Pants Place. They are a size 5, I don't ever recall being a 5, nor do I reckon I will ever be 5. Why do have them? :confused3 More importantly, why can't I just chuck em? Anyone need a pair of "vintage" leather pants in a sz 5:lmao:

yep...loved my saddle shoes, had to be red soles though.

Let's see...I'll also admit to owning white go-go boots, canvas espadrilles, tretorn tennies, and bass boots (that you didn't dare lace up)
:)

Another Catholic school saddle shoe wearer here! I loved mine, as did the other gals in my school, only because the public school girls thought them cool. :cool1: :lmao:

I didn't have any jellies - tossed the saddle shoes and went for the heels! :goodvibes ;)

Saddle Shoes....oh my gosh, I haven't thought of those in so long! That was all I wore when I was little. My mom LOVED them and I HATED them, no one else I knew wore them. This was the early 80s...NO ONE else wore Saddle Shoes! :rotfl: I'd like to say making me wear those scared me for life, but, since I'd forgotten all about it, I guess that won't fly! ;)

I had saddle shoes and hated them too. My mom loved them . They made my feel look like big cows (IMHO). I wanted the ballet flats but noooooooo those were not good for my feet. So now whose fault is it that I have to buy cute shoes in multiples and then stuff my closets and shoe racks ? YES it is my mom's fault AND FYI I have a crooked little toe so it is very hard for me to find stylish shoes that do not hurt. So much for saddles being 'good' for my feet!

Wow I had to have them as part of our school uniform when I was much younger. I though they were so cute- until I knew better. I remember the fights about those stupid shoes. I tried to throw them out once. My Mom was not pleased.

I did. I am 51 and wore them in elementary school. My Mom also insisted they were the "proper" school shoe. I also had white ankle socks :scared:, was called a "Sunshine Girl" which was not a good thing  and was totally scarred for life. I have since found out I equally traumatized my own DD with my fashion choices for her, so I guess it all works out, doesn't it? :rotfl:

I used to own quite a few pairs of saddle shoes. They were the cutest thing! ^_^

I had saddle shoes in the early 80s!! I LOVED them! I went to Catholic school and our shoes could only be certain colors. So I picked saddle shoes. I thought they looked great.

But um, I don't think the other kids thought so...:lmao:

DSs had them as the "next shoe" after their "high white baby shoes". I dressed them like babies, little shorts, sun suits, overalls, etc when they were little because I knew I didn't have a chance as they approached school age. ;)

Hee hee!! I did that too!! I loved those high white baby shoes, sunsuits, overalls... I liked my babies to look like babies, not like 10 year olds. ;)

And I would have made them wear saddle shoes if I could have found them!
