Saddest Airmiles account ever.

I just used Airmiles to book my trip to Ottawa this summer and I now have one single solitary Dream mile!

But instead of paying $976.50 I only had to pay the $120 in taxes and fees.

Sheesh, flights from Victoria to Ottawa are crazy expensive!

Yes, the miles needed to go from Ontario out west (& vice versa) are crazy. But better than paying for it!

I know what you mean about seeing the AM account go down. It's like an obsession getting as many as you can, but when you cash in a sort of depression sets in when see that balance and have to start from scratch again! LOL

I hear your pain. Aside from the low #, the worst for me was not being able to look up flights I was saving for (didn't have enough miles to view). It won't be long and you'll be over 1000, then 2000 etc. Here's hoping for some good weeks at the grocery store.

I haven't used any airmiles for flights in over five years because they've been so bad. I had over 12K airmiles and had no idea what I was going do with them, until we decided to go to WDW in '18 and I stumbled across the passes on the airmilesshops site.

Since there is no chance I'm going to get enough AM to pay for either of the other two flights (DH and DS) and we have APs for our trip to DL next month, I've switched to 100% cash miles to get some more Starbucks gift cards for coffee and breakfasts while we are in DL.

I still need to get flights for DH and DS for the Ontario trip but I am going to have to bite the bullet and pay $$$$ for those.

I feel your pain. When I purchased a Disney ticket with their promo...I was down to 67 miles. I'm almost at 1600. And that was the beginning of February. So I'm hoping I can collect enough for another DW ticket on their promo. I'm watching like a hawk at their am promos. I only have Safeway to purchase from that I regularly shop at. No Rexall here. But I'll keep plugging away. I'm also doing a great job collecting PC points..which I use to purchase visa GC to purchase more tickets into Dw or Universal This momma is determined to hopefully get to Florida for Dw and Universal in late 2018!!!!

Make sure any Canadian Starbucks gift cards you purchase will be redeemable in the US...sometimes gift cards don't work cross-border!

The gift card I purchase are visas which I in turn use to purchase Disney Tickets at our AMA or a Travel agency. Free money just from buy groceries. It's items that I regularly buy. I won't buy them if I don't need them, as I know they will give me those points again another week...or I save them until the following week...which is nice

The Starbucks GC I bought with cash Miles from shell worked fine in DW. Also shell sells tons of GCs u can use your cash Miles for (LCBO, home Depot, shoppers, Safeway/Sobeys etc) so you could always use your am for these GC's that you'd have to pay cash for anyways... Then take the cash you would have spent and put it into your trip fund. That make sense?

They work just fine. I do it often and have been for several years now. I load the evoucher on to a registered gift card that is also linked to the app.
