Sad, was supposed to be headed to the World tonight

My sister rented a condo at Caribe Cove, and invited my dd and I. DD is 15, and she came down with a really bad headcold, she feels like total crap, and is in the mucous making stage of it now, so I decided to forego our trip. Very difficult for me to do! I even considered making her go, and leaving her at the condo during the days we went to to parks (I know, bad mommy), or even taking her and staying with her tomorrow, while the fam goes to the park, to see how she feels Sat.

Did I mention how much I LOVE being in Disney, and was so looking forward to this? HOWEVER, we JUST got back from 5 days there in Oct, where I took DD and two of her friends, and had a great time. Went to MNSSHP for the first time, DD was Ichobod Crane and her friends were Alice in Wonderland/Kingdom Hearts characters. Just the thought of getting to go back so soon and for relatively cheaply (no rental car, didn't have to pay for condo, no gas, etc) was SO exciting. And after looking at the condo online, I couldn't wait to hang out on the porch and have a glass of pinot!

Well, Disney will always be there, and we live within 5 hours, so I will suck it up and stay home, and put up the Christmas tree. I know my dd feels crappy when she doesn't want to do Disney. No fever, no barfing, etc, just really bad cold.

I am consoling myself tonight with some pinot and some Publix Ultimate Chili Roll sushi, lol. *sigh*

ETA: I'm sure everyone AT Disney also appreciates me keeping a sick person at home! I did consider that, as well.

It's still disappointing, I get that!

We go next week and I'm terrified I'll get sick. The early part of December is usually when I do get sick, so I don't know what we were thinking in scheduling our trip for then.

Because even as grownups, we all still have a little bit of kid in us when it comes to Disney.

I would be doing some Mucinex DM to get rid of the congestion, laying the seat back and playing her favorite tunes on the way down! Really though, that stuff is wonderful and you may want to check on that even with you staying home. Good luck!

FWIW, Mucinex never works for me.

OP, I think you're doing the right thing. She'd probably be miserable the entire time there and if she doesn't get rest, it could escalate her cold. Sometimes you got to do what you got to do.

Also, next week is Pop Warner week, so at least you are missing that.

She's already starting to feel somewhat better, but is now coughing the "stuff" up, which is fine with me. Better to get it out! And, I can imagine the dirty looks I would be getting from people if we DID go to the parks, lol, the same looks I would be giving myself!

Well, my mom is down there with my sister, and I told her what she can bring back for me! I saw an Animal Kingdom canvas backpack when we were there in Oct, and I was planning on getting it when we were SUPPOSED to be in AK today.
