It pains me to update a post I made earlier this week...The seven year old that was missing from North Memphis was found dead in the house ACROSS THE STREET from where she disappeared. Again, the city is in an uproar, wanting to know why the house wasn't searched earlier, etc, etc. To make the story even worse, the man indicted for her murder had a long criminal history that included "hiding missing persons and runaways" and fondling young children. Here is the link to the story.

P.S. This man actually showed up in the emergency room where I actually work the afternoon before he was arrested c/o suicidal ideations. He bolted when he found out the sherriff's department was looking for him. Talk about close to home and SCARY!

I'm so terribly sorry to hear this. What an awful thing to happen to such a sweet child. My heart and prayers goes out to Tyra, her family, and her community. :(

:( I missed your other post about the 7 yo.:( It's too bad he didn't follow through with his suicidal thoughts.

This is so sad. My heart goes out to this family. I don't think there's any greater horror for a parent than losing a child. Hopefully this guy will be taken care of in jail so there's no chance he'll ever touch another child.

This is why I feel so strongly about Meghan's law. Anybody convicted of a child-related offense should have their address posted in a public place. I know it won't give us complete protection, but at least convicted previous offenders will have a tougher time getting their hands on kids in their neighborhood. Here in NJ we have watched them whittle away at many of the strengths of Meghans law. And posting the addresses is actually mild compared to what I think should be done. You get convicted of a child sexual offense you should have a choice between castration, death, or life in prison.

How very sad:( . I don't understand how someone could do this to a child.

I am very upset at the MPD... OK, I can maybe understand why they didn't issue an Amber alert. But if the house was across the street, why didn't the PD check it out. Her bike was on the carport, for God's sake!
You have to wonder if it had been a white girl from Central Gardens, would the MPD would have done a better job. I hate to throw race into the mix, but to me it's either that or the fact it was in Frayser.
and King Willie wonders why everybody wants to move to Desoto or Fayette counties:(

I vote they should get 2 out of the 3.
