Sad story.

What a terrible story, it doesn't just make you sad but also mad! In this country, so many people are wanting to sue because "the coffee burned my tongue"(well, duh, it's coffee), "my grocery sack broke",etc. This is definite grounds, I hope they get what they deserve because their lives will never be the same, what a shame.

That is just TERRIBLE! I can't imagine the agonizing wait they all endured. That poor man, family, and people who witnessed it and tried to help. THey will all never be the same.:( I pray that they take care of it so no one else has to suffer such a tragedy.

That's awful! My dh (firefighter) has many experiences where dispatchers botched the calls and gave wrong information. Bottom line is dispatchers need better training and should be required to memorize the territory just like the firefighters have to. There are way too many mix ups regarding Lanes, Drives, Circles, Avenues - Clark Drive is NOT Clark Circle, etc... Usually the person calling in is pretty hysterical and it takes a well trained dispatcher to calm them down enough to get valid, clear information on location and problem. I just hate to hear about stories like this, but it's important to get them out for everyone to learn by them. Thanks for sharing that article. :(

This happened to my dad. My parents lived out in the country and it took them almost an hour to get there because they kept missing their turn. By the time they got there it was obviously too late for my dad. The doctor told my mom that it didn't matter how long the paramedics took because he probably died immediately and they wouldn't have been able to do anything anyway...even if it had happened right there in the hospital.

I saw the story on GMA this morning. I was getting DD off to the bus stop so I didn't hear every word.

It is very sad to think that it took 45 minutes for a ambulance to arrive when there was a fire house a few minutes away. I didn't read the article you posted the link to, but from what I heard on the show this morning it is something that should NEVER had happened.

I cannot believe a town would change the areas a fire station responds to and not have all the people involved know who is responsible. The phone calls that were placed to 911 were played and at one point the operator is arguing with other dispatchers as to which station was responsible for the call. My god send someone. I believe they had placed 8 or 9 phone calls to 911.

Why in this day and age with all the technology we have does something like this happen? Very sad.:(

Makes me very glad that I live in a town that is honored for it's response time to a emergency call.

This is such a terrible story! It saddens me so much to know that this could even happen! I will be praying that this family finds peace.:(

So sad and so very frustrating. Bureaucrasy is not always helpful :(

Bless this man, I pray his family finds peace :(
