I'm sad to have to do it. We've enjoyed our points for 7 wonderful years, but 8 years of going to Disney and living on one income has taken its toll and we need to get out of some debt. I'm trying to just be happy that we have a way to reduce it a bit and cut our expenses- but this is a tough one. I'm also trying to remember that it is wonderful that we can manage on one income and live the way we've chosen, even without DVC. There are things I won't trade even to keep our small piece of WDW.
We'll still have our tiny VWL contract. We'll still be DVC members and get those benefits. We can go every 3 years. That's about all the Disney we can afford at the moment and its likely we won't have the time to go frequently during the next several years because I've decided to go back to college for a second degree, so it is the wise and reasonable thing to cash out on our other points. But to be honest, I don't want to. Neither does my dh.
He's talking about moving to central Florida, so we can visit WDW without needing accomodations. I'm thinking we can still do those DVC AP's every 3 years and stay off property for a second trip- a friend had a very good experience with an off property townhome and it sounds like a good option for us. Unfortunately Disney doesn't really have great affordable options for a family of 5 that aren't DVC. But we'll see.
In a couple of years I'll be able to work again and we'll have 2 decent incomes for the first time in our lives- if we aren't moving to Florida by then we'll certainly be buying DVC again!
So I suppose I'm looking for condolances and good wishes for a swift and easy sale- or that something comes along to make the sale unneccessary! If I could, I'd pull if off the market in an instant and buy even more points!
