Sad Pal Mickey story

I am also a believer that things like that happen at WDW. There are jerks everywhere, even at Disney World :sad2:

That is too bad. My daughter lost her pink Mickey ears at EPCOT one day. We were in an exhibit for the food and wine festival. We walked in with the ears and left only a couple of minutes later when I realized she dropped them inside. They were gone! Couldn't believe it!

2 years ago when we were last at MK we had our mickey rain jackets stolen not as much money as your pal mickey but i felt really disappointed that someone could do that at DISNEY.
27 weeks today and we will be on that plane on our way!!! yahooo :Pinkbounc :woohoo:

I put sticky-backed address labels on everything (especially my disposable cameras). But in 2000 I lost my wallet out of my backpack at WDW and no one turned it in. I lost tickets and more money than I care to think about, but I was hoping my Disney wallet would at least have been returned empty at Lost and Found. There's no way someone didn't know how to find me with the I.D. in there. Not only did it ruin the trip for me and my family (luckily it was toward the end of the trip), but the fact that it was at WDW made it even more disheartening. So, even had you had your name on Pal Mickey, there is still the thought that the person who found it still would not have tried to return it to you. Sad.

Its sad we can't trust anyone anyplace anymore.... :(

I'm cluessless...what is a pal mickey?

Way to funny disneyaggie :rotfl2:

"Too bad Mickey is not set up with a chip that when he is stolen the chip can be activated to say things like, "Put me down you big thief"! Or, "Help, help, I am being kidnapped", or "I was stolen from a sweet little boy by some big galoot"! "

Problem is I would be setting it off just hear mine yelling. :lmao:

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I think more than being upset about losing Mickey, I was sad that no Disney Magic took care of it. No CM offered a new one and no kind soul turned him in. It burst some of my Disney bubble. I just couldn't believe he wouldn't turn up! I didn't want to ask for a new one (It seemed selfish to even think it), but I wanted someone to offer! It seemed like the Disney thing to happen. When it didn't, I was so sad! High expectations and a little naive belief in Pixie Dust, I know. We had a great time none the less, so I better just get over it!

so sorry this happened to you....

I can't believe someone would take a child's Pal Mickey....

now that is low.

I got my niece one and it kept falling off - so I got the thing that I carry Spicey around in and put him in there.....I told her he kept trying to run away....

do the bottle strap work? - where do you buy the bottle straps....

I just hope that the thief feels 10 times worse than you do. At least you know it can be replaced. The little creep that stole it has to live with his/her crime for the rest of his/her life.

If it's any consolation, I lost my mobile phone somewhere in the MK about 1 1/2 years ago and no one turned it in either. I mean, how desparate can a person be? The real aggrivation was that I had all my phone numbers in my phone (a reason to make a duplicate chip before the next trip). Now that was a pain in the hiney! ::yes::

But in the scheme of things, I saw it as a God-send. You see, while I was pouting at MVMCP because of my missing phone, a lady rides by in her wheelchair. I thought, "Wow. I can always get my phone replaced, but she may never walk again". Sure put things in perspective for me. ;)

A couple of years ago my son lost his brand new Pal Mickey on Star Tours. He had left it under the seat. We went back to get it. When we got there we ran into someone who saw it. They had gone back to get something that they forgot. It turns out someone gave it to a CM who then took it and put it at the exit doors. From there somebody else picked it up and my son's day was ruined. He had only had got it that day and was very upset. We went to Lost and Found and nobody turned it in, and they couldn't help us. Well, later that day my wife was talking to another CM, she was curious why my son was so unhappy. Well my wife related the story to her about the Pal Mickey. She said wait a minute, went into talk to a supervisor. She came out with a slip for us to bring to the store at our hotel (POR) to get the Pal Mickey replaced for free. We couldn't thank her enough for going above and beyond. It really saved our vacation, and renewed our belief in the Magic of Disney.

I am very sorry for the loss of your Pal Mickey especially having been in that situation myself. I wish yours could have had as happy an ending as ours.

I've seen this happen several times. CMs have a certain amount of latitude when it comes to sprinkling pixie dust. If they see a guest is very upset, they will do what they can to rectify the problem. I've seen numerous toys replaced as well as drinks and snacks even though it was not WDW's fault that these items were lost.

Aww..I'm sorry to hear that happened. It reminds me of this one time when I was about 6 and we took a trip over to Sea World. My grandpa had bought me this little manatee plushie that had fallen in love with. We went to watch a show, and I had put my hair scrunchie around it's neck. I accidently left him on my seat, and starting crying hysterically as soon as I found out I had left him. We all rushed back, and we found my scrunchie, but no plushie manatee... :guilty: :sad2: Some people are just so rude... My grandpa did however buy me a new one, but still... You'd think if someone KNEW that it belonged to someone, they'd leave it in it's place... :sad2:

Hmmm you know...I don't see what is stopping Disney from putting a specific tracking device in the little dolls. It obviously knows where it is. I can't imagine that Disney didn't see the benefit in having that communication be two ways (free info on interior park usage). So when secret agent mickey number 6348901 passes through the turnstiles but has been reported mousenapped....something interesting could happen!

All that aside, I replaced the clip with a carabiner clip. That way I can hook mickey to anything with a loop and I don't have to worry about him falling off.

I used dental floss and sewed a keyring right in the top center of Mickey's head. Then we attached him to a lanyard and my son wore him around his neck. He had a clip, but the clip fell off, so I was glad we didn't trust that to hold him!

On our last trip my DW and 3 DDs went to the restroom beside Ariel's Grotto. My youngest, age 7, took her lanyard and pins off and laid it on the counter when she washed her hands. She came out and left it on the counter. We were gone for no more than 5 minutes when she realized it. We went back but it was gone. Luckily it was our 3rd day, so she did not have a lot of pins yet. We replaced it and she was fine. My dw and I said the same thing a lot of you have said. If we found something like that we would give it to a CM close by.

That's what we used for our Pal Mickey last summer, it worked great!!
:thumbsup2

If there is another Pal Mickey in our future, I'll bring along the dental floss! Or I'll strap him to my son with bungie cords! ;) I couldn't take another little broken heart! Again, this has been theraputic everyone, thanks!
