My Mom just called to tell me that one of my HS coaches passed away. His name was Chuck Gillis and he coached at Willingboro High for many years. He was way too young (just 55) and one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

His obituary mentioned that he retired from coaching in 1997 to fulfill his life-long dream of working at WDW. He worked at one of the WDW golf courses.

Just another reminder that life is short and we need to make time for our dreams.

Willingboro, NJ? (Burlington County)

I do remember hearing about him. Wasn't on of the Olympics runners from Willingboro? Was it Carl Lewis? Probably early 80's?

I seem to remember local news about this years ago... I used to live in Delran.

Yes, Carl Lewis is from Willingboro. I was friendly with him in Junior High and High School (we had math and gym together). Nice guy, nice family.

Coach Gillis was a football coach.

See, I got it confused. (If you weren't involved in sports, unfortunately the coaches run together!)

Nobody was connected with football in my family. It was mostly field hockey and lacrosse.
