Yes, Nell was a great talent and will be very much missed. :(

OMG! I was in a college math class with Lori Jo Miller!

I always like her :(

OMG...I LOVED watching her so much on Gimme A Break. That was one of my fav shows during that time period. How sad!

That is so sad! I always loved her, not only was she extremly funny but her voice was awesome! Didn't she adopt some children? I wonder how old they are now. Thats so so sad! I too wonder if her death was related to her weight/diabetes.

How sad. :( I remember just loving "Gimmie a Break" when I was younger. I feel so sorry for her children. :(

Oh that just makes me so sad! I really liked her, she was very talented!

sure she adopted twins. 13 years old. :(

That is very sad. Man, nobody could belt out This Joint is Jumpin' from Ain't Mis Behavin' like Nell.

RIP Nell Carter.

:(

I can still remember seeing her in "Ain't Misbehavin'", the Broadway show that made her a star.

What an immense talent! The world of show business is poorer for her absence. May she rest in peace.

The story I saw actually said one of her 13-year old twins was the one who found her after she collapsed. :(

How sad!
My sister was a counselor at a weight loss camp back in the early 80's. She had Nell's DD there for a summer. She was a very lonely girl. :(

Oh no.....I grew up watching her.....:(

Dh and I were just talking about her yesterday. For some odd reason, I was singing "Tomorrow" from Annie and it reminded me of when she came to Chicago, IL five years ago and played Ms. Hannigan at the Lyric Opera House. That was a special day for me as I had begged my mom to take me to see it for my birthday when it debuted here in the early '80s. She didn't take me and I always hated that I missed that show. Fast forward to 1998 and dh surprised me with tickets (floor seats) to Annie. Even though I was nine months pregnant with Cameron, I had the best time!!

Rest in Peace, Nell.

Michael is so sad...he was crazy about her.... probably because his Mom is the same height and was just as loud!

God bless her and her two little boys... :(
